I really don't know how to begin resurrecting over 300 pages of this thread. And besides, who can guarantee that this free hosting site - RV.net b- won't do the same thing? It is a shame that this site didn't host its own photos instead of using 3rd party. Getting by cheap.

Dang, I feel like I've been kicked in the gut, and I don't have near the time, blood sweat and tears invested that the rest of y'all do. Oddly, the few pictures I've uploaded via photob. are still visible. Then my account is fairly new and small. Life is full of coulda, woulda, shouldas, but I just finished compiling a rough draft of an index for this thread. I went and saved the first half dozen pages as a pdf. There were a fair number of dead pics early on before photon. nuked everything. I saw that the approach would work to save each page, but was also rather tedious and not much fun. I put off finishing it up. Coulda, woulda.... If any one comes up with any ideas, let me know. Maybe a go fund me or something. Scott * This post was edited 07/03/17 07:38pm by Southedistoman * |

I tried clicking on one of the missing pictures from your post 67, and i was redirected to Photobucket. And the picture loaded there. Then I went back to RV.net, and suddenly most of the missing pics were linking up... Has anyone else tried that? Is it just that Photobucket wants you to hit their site, before letting the links work?

No unfortunately-, wish that was the case, but if you visit PB from photo linked, pictures are held in your browsers cache for a bit, kinda sorta works until refreshed. And the links don't seem to take one to full album... PB simply no longer allows members to link to pictures, (unless you 'upgrade'). EDIT: From what I gather, unless you 'pay-up'- its not IF your pictures stop showing it just a matter of when they stop showing up. I wish I had some idea the rational but no explanation/justification given. * This post was edited 07/03/17 07:13pm by AnEv942 * 01 Ford F250 4x4 DRW Diesel, 01 Elkhorn 9U Our camper projects page |

Ok, as a method of damage control, I went through and made a pdf of every page on this thread. It is certainly not as bad as I feared, yet. The most glaring omissions, as of right now, are D and tiki2. Gary, your pics still display, at the moment. While these two heavy hitters are terrible, I felt it was better to capture what I could, while it was still displayed. If anyone else is curious, I simply went into the print page tab, and told my computer "Save as pdf". If you use the print page tab, it removes all the boarders and signatures from the post, really condensing it. I also set my "dashboard" to display 40 posts per page, running the total to 192 pages. I'm going to copy them onto a flash drive for safe keeping. I originally started doing that for my own reference, but stopped after a couple of pages, dumb mistake. Scott |

I'm going to look into pulling all my images from photobucket and repost them from another portal. Are there suggestions as to a reliable 3rd party photo hosting?

I was just on the Forest River forum getting demand water heater info and I saw a post from a user there about PB stoping hosting their pics. So we are not alone in our misery. As I said before, I like Imgur. Very easy to use, unlike PB which became a PITA..... |

Thanks D1 and others, I'll look into it. But, I really don't have the time right now to devote to this project. We'll see.

As others have stated, even if Photobucket reversed their decision, I won't use them again.
