We were in Kansas City in 107 degree weather, cooling off before we went to a Bob Dylan Concert at the Starlight Theatre. We turned the corner and I heard Jane yell. I thought it was an oncoming 16 wheeler. Actually it was a beautiful Avion camper resting quietly on the back of a defunct truck. At the corner of 38th St and W Bell Ave. I took a few photos and noticed there there were a LOT of old, "anteeky", looking stuff around. So, I suppose the owner is about the retro nature of the camper. I knocked on the door, but no one answered. Barn find. Looks good. ![]() ![]() |

67, what a happy coincidence! I wonder how many truck campers Avion built over the years they were in production. And then, Cayo. There must be a great many (in relative terms) languishing in barns and on the backs of dead trucks across the country...

That looks like a proper place for the 1st WWAG, really hope I can make it down there. Nice work Rastaman and Susan. That 'defunct' truck looks to be in better shape than mine, I'd bet the flat tire is just KC anti-theft protection. That Avion would look even better sitting on that other truck in the background. A spontaneous meeting occurred over the weekend along the Upper Delaware river just a few miles from my house. ![]() ![]() My buddy with the 70 Ultra finally put it back on his truck and we camped at a small site he has permission to use. Im not sure why I cant get him online to share his mostly original TC with the world. ![]() I warned him about the bed mounted tie downs ![]() On a side note, I finally got to use the inverter. ![]() A bit overkill for such a small roast. 1968 Avion C-11 1993 Dodge D250 LE Cummins |

Excellent question. Aside from the fact it says 'Ultra', I couldnt say. The serial number plate is stamped ULTRA in addition to the S/N. Ill speak with him about posting pics of the interior(ASAP). |

What a great scene with two Avions resting along a river bank. Its almost primeval. By all means get a set of photos of his rig and post them - with his permission, of course. Better yet, get him on the Forum to let us know about the ULTRA. And even better yet, get him to the First Worldwide Avionista Gathering (WWAG) in north Florida this Halloween. We'll have bonfires, Red Stripe, jerk chicken and sounds of the Wailers. |

I have a hunch it'll sell for less than $5,000. On Edit: This morning the bid jumped to more than $5,000, proving my hunch wrong.... * This post was edited 07/09/16 08:44am by 67avion * |

Hi my name is Joerg and coming from Germany. I own pickups since beginning of 1990, started with a Campertop, than, when my daughters where born, I changed for a 1990 Chevy Crew cab and bought a Fleetwood Elkhorn. After 2 Years I sold it to buy a Palomino Maverick 1000 sl (found in Helena Montana). The last few years I owned a 2007 GMC Sierra k3500 drw. That was enough for me till this year. Whenever I have seen an Airstream trailer I looked astonished and started dreaming. Coincidentally I sold my rig for good money. Also coincidentally I found an Avion c11 from 1968 in the US and bam, it was mine. A friend of mine now has to arrange the shipping. I try to read and follow this wonderful informative threat, but its too much to read in such a short time. When the Avion gets here, I have to check, what has to be replaced, what can I fix or buy here in Germany etc. At the time I´m on page 15 (add a greywatertank). I have to change Waterheater, etc everything with gas, because these Parts are not allowed in Germany. I think I will have lots of questions, when I inspected the Avion, and lots of Questions are already responded, but maybe its already a few years ago. So you have to excuse this (also my bad English). I will keep on following the news and follow up what you guys wrote the last years, restoring your Treasure. Chevy Pickup since ´95 (c10, R33, K3500) Fleetwood Elkhorn, Sportcam, Palomino 1000 sl Now a Avion 1968 c11 Needs to be restored |

Welcome to our little club Joerg . You will probably have the only C-11 in Europe , quit the distinction . This thread is so long now that it can be difficult to find things even if you have read through it . Don't be afraid to ask questions that might have been covered . We love following along someones revival of these classics . Your English is far better than my German ![]() |
