Howdy!
I am wrestling with black tank issues as well.
I find the marine/yacht guys really do things well.
They would not use metal tanks of any sort to
hold corrosive waste i.e. black.; or fiberglass due
to saturation.
Garry is that exhaust fan redone or new;
where did you get it? Does anyone know
why the Cayos like the OEM gas heater so much?
I am finishing up the bathroom, how does
the outside column attach and is it a support
to the roof in any way?

The exhaust fan is a new unit I purchased off ebay for $15. I need a flapper for the fan, as there is not one in the wall or the fan, so it needs something to block the wind coming in....
I am unclear as to your questions about the heater and the column... Please clarify.

Looks like the basic black water/grey water issue is up again. That's because it's so bothersome and important. We have discussed this many times, but no one has a perfect solution. The primary concern is weight. The secondary concern is the efficacy of the install. I look forward to hearing about the experience of the folks who are doing installations. Please post pix.

67, those are some terrific options you put out regarding exterior finish. I like the vinyl skin...just thinking about an abstracted rainbow trout color pattern...
Seriously, my perfect outcome would be a polished unit without the heavy maintainence requirement. I'll post the results of my conversations with the Coval Molecular folks. Their clear coatings are used to prevent graffiti from sticking to metal, concrete, wood, painted surfaces, as well as being used on the bottoms of metal boat hulls to protect them from marine corrosion, etc. I think it's a real possibility. They have some impressive YouTube videos about their clear coat products.
Re refrigerators, I have purchased a Norcold DE0788 on sale from West Marine. It's 3.1 cf, with a freezer compartment at the top. It's spacious and has the feel of a small home unit. Runs on 12 or 120 volts. Draws just 3 amps at 12 volts. It doesn't use the Danfoss compressor but the swing motor style...which features fewer moving parts, a very low start-up draw and greater efficiency. It's the compressor of choice in most cutting edge units, including Engel. I reckon that by increasing the insulation on the sides and top within the cabinet I install it in and relying on the OEM fridge vented hatch in back to take care of the venting requirements, I could likely get away with 20 to 30 amps usage per average 24 hours. I think that's a quanity one could easily recover with a solar panel. My entire electrical budget looks to be around 90 amp hours per 24 hours.
Have fun in Flag. Annie and I are on Lake Powell sailing our catboat - sadly without the Avion to stay in yet. We were thinking of coming home thru Flag. I see that it's the 16 thru 18th. Hmmmm....

Howdy!
Sorry, the column in question is in red. It
has to attach to the ceiling and floor. I just
do not remember how. Thanks.

Cajun, it's a little hard to understand your problem. I'm wondering if you could post some photos?

If the red circle is your bathroom wall, here is what my C 10 had.... Nothing. I had to build the walls and everything. I do not believe there were any Structural columns in any Avions. The little yellow circle is foam filled into the old plumbing vent...

Hope this helps!

Howdy!
Heres the shower unattached and no walls.
Do the fixtures attach with rivets or screws? I am replacing
the wood walls with clear lexan and 80/20 aluminum
framing so that outside post needs to be
sturdy.

The sink in my bathroom was attached with screws to the wood wall that separated the bathroom and the rest of the camper. This wall also housed the heater vent, sink vent and black water tank vent.
