I used a custom stainless steel tank that I just screwed to the floor, but each corner had a 3/4" angle iron with a mount that went all the way through the floor with 1/4-20 ss bolts. One top bracket went behind the closet and replaced the wood mounting bracket for the bottom of the closet. One of the 1/4-20 bolts ended up under the shower pan. It is covered somewhere in this thread. I think that my gray water tank is over 19 gallons and pushing 20 gallons. Ford F-350 4x4 Diesel 1988 Avion Triple Axle Trailer 1969 Avion C-11 Camper |

I just checked the pages of this thread. My gray water tank has pictures in several locations as follows. Page: 54, 55, 56, 63, 66, 69, 70, and 78. The black water tank is on pages 72, and 88. |

Jamm3r wrote: ![]() What have others done for support? I'm thinking of using Molly bolts every 6" through the flange, with fender washers. That would mean 24 bolts, so on the average each bolt will support 5 pounds. The load won't quite be uniform but even at 10 pounds it should be well within what the bolts will hold. The ultimate strength for 1/4" Mollys is usually given as 200 pounds in 1/2" drywall. Unless you have replaced it the floor in the Avion is a composite of 3/8 ply- 1" rigid insulation - 3/8 ply . The molly bolts would only be holding in 3/8 plywood . '68 Avion C-11 '02 GMC DRW D/A flatbed |

I don't know if anyone is interested, but on March 7th, there is an Avion for sale. It looks like the majority of the interior has been gutted and from the few images, the exterior is in pretty good shape, with just a few minor scrapes on a rear corner. You can find it on Craigslist, Detroit Metro. Just search for Avion Camper and you should be able to find it. I hope that I have not violated the TOS on this site, but through out this thread there have been comments like "I would like to have one of those", so that is why I posted. It is not mine and I don't know this person. I will say that the price seems a bit high, for being a project camper, but all the parts are supposed to still be with it. |

69 Avion wrote: ![]() Fortunately all of mine were able to be cleaned up. I ran some Breakfree in them and worked them for a while until the 45 years of gunk came out and then I cleaned the outside and painted them. I really think that you need that bearing in order to reduce friction. I would have suggested calling Cayo, but they claim that these jacks never came on our campers. My next guess is to take a bearing down to one of the large bearing companies and see if they can match it. I'll bet that they are still available, you just need a make and number. I didn't see any numbers on mine. I looked for numbers just in case I needed new ones. Let us know what you find out. I was able to read the bearing make & model off the original and did try to have both NAPA and a major bearing supplier cross the numbers but no good. (I don't remember what the make/ numbers were right now and on-the-road so can't refer tomy notes) Anyway, yes the drag gets pretty large when my stacked thrust washer assembly gets dry so agree that having good roller thrust bearing is important-- now just need to find where to obtain-- anyone out there have some ideas?? |

If anyone finds the bearings, please let all of us know. I would like to buy an extra set and keep them in the camper just in case I ruin one. If anyone ever changes jacks from the La Jaqa jacks, please let me know if I can buy the crank handle from you. |

If you post the name and number of the bearing it might be helpful .

Another question for the fellow Avioners would a 1968 C11 have come from the factory with a DC/AC converter ? When I purchased mine it had one just laying on the floor ( clearly not hooked up ). I have looked around some and can't see an obvious spot where this may have been installed ? I don't believe I am going to use it ( very old ) and will probably upgrade to something more modern but would like to figure out the wiring if it was originally factory installed. Any help is appreciated.

Any help is appreciated. My 1969 C-11 has been in the family since new and it never had a converter. There are some threads that show what they looked like from the factory. They had a small turqoise colored battery charger hooked up to the battery which was near the water tank. I used a modern battery charger (Schumacher Ship-n-Shore) to charge the two external batteries that I now use. I replaced the 30 gallon tank with a 40 gallon tank. |
