The bed in my Xplorer is hard also. I added an eggshell foam pad and that helped. Then on top of that I added 4" of memory foam and that really did the job. Very nice now with both foam pads.

My bed is less than ideal also. I lay down a thick sleeping bag and then put another for cover. Still not great. I'll experiment next spring after I wake the B up. The foam sounds like a good idea.
Roy and Lynne, your trip sounds nice. I haven't done that area much. Last time I was in SW OR is at least 20 years ago. So it give me ideas for the future.

It was a great trip Eastwacamper, We mostly stayed at State Parks crossing over to eastern WA we stayed at 7 Feathers and it is a great place which I highly recommend. Super friendly, super clean, and it has a free shuttle that will take you to town (Canyonville) or to the store or to the casino. We did our laundry and had a great buffet at the casino. We also spent two nights at a KOA at Klamath Falls but then came up Hwy 97 staying at La Pine State Park and then Deschutes Rec Area on 84. If I lived on the east side of WA I would have taken 395 up as its more scenic than 97.
I added a swivel table mount to both the front and back seating areas. It makes the front much more usable as seating and table for two. We don't use the back dinette much anymore because of this, as the front seats are much more comfortable and usable with the new table. I have a blog post on it here https://blacktopoffice.com/2016/09/13/front-table-upgrade/. I also added the same swivel mount to the rear dinette, but don't have a post on it yet to show.
When I travel solo and want to use the back larger table for work, I leave the foam topper at home and use one side as a twin bed setup, and just swivel the table over to the other side. I had to modify the board for the center to allow the table to stay installed. I can take pictures if anyone is interested.
Dang if I could not get it to shut off. It just ran an ran. After much tado and frustration I found a document the said I was adjusting it wrong. and I finally got it to shut off, and only pump when called for...
I pulled it out like 4 times, trying to figure it out.. It's all good now.
It should NOT have been that far off ,,,someone messed with this pump. It was New used.

We only have the couch/dinette/bed combo and your right, there is really no place to store the foam, but I"m thinking if we cut it in half, it might be easier to store.
