Topic: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Posted By: Karsty on 05/11/14 11:02am

Making a few modifications in anticipation of my winter stay in Florida next year. Removed the optional storage cabinet behind the driver's seat and replaced it with a comfortable living room style chair.

I also found a great place to get a front end alignment rather than going to Mercedes dealer who wanted $300. A truck centre with the latest digital equipment that charged $84 including tax! [emoticon]

I have also removed the front simulators off the front wheels. They are nothing but a pain and have made it difficult to add air since day one. I have now removed a 2" valve extension and was still able to install the TPMS sensors.

I plan to remove the rear simulators as well and see if that makes getting access to the valve stems easier. One the my main concerns has been that the extended valve stems have been banging against the simulators because of centrifugal force while driving at higher speeds. I noticed a small grove starting to develop in them. Perhaps the added weight of the TPMS sensors was an issue .... But no more.

Took my PW into local audio/detailing/whatever shop and after 4 1/2 hrs the 7 inch colour b/up camera was installed with wiring going from back roof down under vehicle and clamped in place then up through vent and wired in with 5amp fuse. Has two cameras at back, one for seeing the actual back of the van and for set for seeing down the road.Works great.:$290

Gonna wax the rv next week. Then we are off up Island.

Completed my final preparations for my summer trip back home to Alaska. Did a complete wax job and got the front-end aligned. Also got some water tight plastic boxes that fit into the storage compartments so I can pack things and not worry about dust, dirt and water getting into them. So come Memorial Day I hit the road north!

I got a Kenwood DNX571HD. It's a new unit for 2014, a slight upgrade from last year's DNX570HD model. It also has a different arrangement for connecting iPods and USB devices so I was able to install cables for both just like the old Eclipse had.

Well last week actually, but I swapped the stock 120v 19" LCD digital TV, for a 12v/120v 19" LED digital with DVD player. It's smaller, lighter and is setup to by-pass the inverter for more efficient use of my house batt. when necessary.

Put a "bump" into the track of the sliding side door. Now it can rest against the "bump" and be held 1/2 open or closed as desired instead of sliding too far open or closed on it's own.

Discovered a major leak during de-winterizing. Replaced the leaking kitchen faucet with a high arch utopia (Made in the USA) [emoticon]
Previous owner did a quick fix with silicon in a small crack at the base that pushed the water under the cabinet top. NICE fix . . . not. Glad I did not use that sink much last year

I wonder if that is what my friend said about those sliding doors: if a stone or another object is in the rail it can affect the opening and bend the door mechanism(?) I only have the earlier door system ie prior to 2007 which opens about half the distance. He said to clean out the channel anyway which we do.

During a recent overnight stay in a CG, I didn't hook up to the CG water and noticed while brushing my teeth that my water didn't taste so good so today I am in the process of doing the Clorox treatment. I put 2 cups Clorox in holding tank, waited a few hours for it to mix and then turned on the pump and flushed all the the lines, including my DIY outside shower fixture. Now I will let that sit for 24 hours and then flush the tank a couple of times. The tank is only 16 gallons so I catch the water and let it sit in the sun until the Clorox goes away and then use the water for flowers and garden.
My Wife also washed the RV and I vacuumed the inside. We also decided that we carry too much stuff that is never/hardly needed so we will streamline a bit. If I need it and don't have it, I'll buy it on the road. [emoticon]
