Topic: Keystone Bullet Premier

We are new here and just put the $ for a 31BHP. We are upgrading from an Outback bunkhouse with the queen back slide. We are planning on picking it up the weekend of the 27th. Spending one night in it near where we are buying in Georgetown, TX, about 3 hours from us. Two weeks later we will take it on vacation to NM for 2 weeks. I really think DH is the most excited about it. I have read all the post in this thread and knew a lot more than the salesman selling it to us.

We have 5 kids at home so we will have the bunkhouse filled and overflowing. We have the coolest TV. We tow with a 15 passenger bus! That is my car. I love it!

Very cool. Congrats on getting the Premier. Our kids are 2, 4, 9, 11, 13 (almost) and our bunkhouse is their domain. Because we use the trundle bed a lot, the screws that hold the wheels seem to work themselves out over time. I've had to re-mount the wheels several times after the kids tell me one of them have fallen off. After the third time, I put some Liquid Nail glue around the screws, hoping that will hold them from becoming undone through vibration and use.

I'm curious about your 15-passenger bus [emoticon]. Would you mind posting pictures or giving some details about it? I've been researching full-size passenger vans to use as a tow vehicle and I think my wife is slowly warming to the idea [emoticon].

On a side note, this morning I looked at the latest issue of Trailer Life (Sep 2011) and something caught my eye right away. I thought one of the pictures looked very familiar....

They have an article about outdoor kitchens and they used the one from the Premier as their opening shot:

That's very cool. I have to say that is the one feature that draws the most attention whenever we are RVing. People always have a comment or a question whenever they walk by. In fact, last week someone came from across the campground to ask questions about it and I ended up even giving them a tour inside.

Anyway, what I noticed in the picture in Trailer Life was that they had a different overhead cabinet door than the one that I have in my unit. Mine is a traditional side-by-side door instead of the pull-up style shown. Is anyone else's like that one in the article?

I would have to say that it was a design improvement because I once had a problem of forgetting to close the cabinet doors and then trying to close the kitchen door. It bent the hinges on the cabinet and also bent the frame on the outside door. Luckily, I realized the problem quickly before I did any permanent damage. Now I am always extra careful to make sure the cabinets are closed before I close up the kitchen.

I haven't mastered posting pics here. We love our bus. We have 5 kids at home, 2 grand kids next door and I keep 1-2 of the other grand kids several days a week. That adds up to a full car when we go any where. We are 40 miles out in the sticks so a trip to town means I stock up. Even with our excursion I would run out of room before I finished grocery shopping. It doesn't happen with the bus.

We looked at vans and then the buses. They won hands down. Ours is an ex-hotel shuttle bus, so it has nice seats, no bench seats. Kids don't have to touch each other. It had the couch in the back, but we didn't want that. We had the company switched and had hanging bench seats put in the very back. When we sitting room we drop them and the back door isn't usable, but with 10 or less we have about 3 ft of storage room.

It is a one ton frame dually the stability is SOOO much better than a van. Tows our Outback even in the mountains of NM with no problem. It is a diesel. We have had ours a little over a year and 1/2. This size bus isn't terribly hard to park. I have friends that have 16 passenger vans, they like the bus much better. In fact it is on loan this week as our church group took a bus full back backing in NM this week.

That's awesome. What a great find! I agree that the van interiors are lacking. The standard seats just don't seem suitable or inviting for a family of active, growing kids. It's one of the things that's holding me back.

So speaking of tow vehicles..... It may be fun if we post up pics of what we tow our Bullets with. Here is my tow rig. Overkill?

Virtual Garage... My overhead cabinet is exactly like the one in the photo. Its funny that you see this as an upgrade, I am constantly annoyed with it and have remarked to my wife that a traditional door would be better. I find it hard to get things out of that cupboard without someone holding the door open.

OURs on the 27RBPR is same as photo as well door opens UP!.. I had same issue as PSUCamper but i installed a couple of plastic door shocks and problem is gone... $20.00 maybe? You still need to remember to CLOSE that door before closing the kitchen door though.. I think that's probably why it didn't come with the door shocks. (ask me how I know) [emoticon]

Only thing next on my list out there is mounting an outside TV for "movie nights by the fire"(DW's idea if you can believe it) and I was thinking of knocking the wood panel off of one side of that same outdoor kitchen cupboard and installing a wine rack to store... well.... movie wine!!

P.S.... EVERYONE that sees or spends time near our camper is super jealous of the outdoor kitchen.. It wasn't on our wishlist at all but now that we have it we love it!
