***CAT SCALE RESULTS***

Full fuel, no passengers or myself in during weigh, Superglide 16K in bed, approx 50lbs of tools & Weber Q in bed.

Truck itself:
Steer axle: 4620 lbs
Drive axle: 3760 lbs
Gross Weight: 8380 lbs

Truck w/5er attached
Steer axle: 4600 lbs
Drive axle: 6320 lbs
Trailer axle: 9800 lbs
Gross weight: 20720 lbs

So to conclude w/trailer attached:

Truck GVWR: 10920 lbs (over by 420lbs without passengers)
Trailer PIN: 2540 lbs
GCWR: under by 280lbs

hi,
you are talking to a newbie.....as in I will be receiving a 2016 Toyota tundra and want to buy a small fifth wheel. I have read so many different articles on what my tow weight is and this is all confusing...some say 9500 some say 10,000. I do understand how important it is not to go to heavy because I can burn out the truck. I Haven't received the truck yet and am doing my homework. As I read your many posts I am amazed at all the information there is out there.
If you could help me out and point me in the right direction I would be ever so grateful. I have never pulled a trailer or fifth wheel. I am pretty much a city girl but need to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Looking forward to this new thing called life...lol

For any vehicle, towing something is rarely the issue. There are some who are towing lightweight fifth wheels. Just because they are doing it doesn't mean they are not exceeding the weight safety ratings.

The weight safety ratings is an issue you have to decide what you are willing to live with or feel safe with your passengers.

I do not know of any decent size fifth wheel that will have a pin weight light enough not to exceed the Tundra's GVWR.

scale, full fuel. 2010 Montana 3075RL on the way home from wintering in Fla, (so it was loaded with junk), 1/2 tank water, both 30lb propane tanks full.

I haven't weighted it yet, but I don't think I will be over weight. I have a picture of my other truck on page 73 of this same thread. This is the first time I have pulled my trailer with this truck. I summer in Colorado and had wanted to go to a truck show in Des Moines Iowa the last week of May. I did not want to drive all the way back to Texas to retrieve my trailer, so decided to rig my LTL out to pull the fiver. I installed a sliding fifth wheel on it that slides to the rear to give me plenty of clearance, added an air over electric brake controller and fabricated a second trailer electrical cord to mate up to my fiver. It plugs into the same plug on the back of the sleeper that I use for my semi trailer. I have a set of fenders ordered so the rocks don't beat up my trailer

Just double/triple towed for the first time this last week. 4 adults in cab with full tank. Went to AZ Bike week.

If I'm reading that correctly, the front axle is 5780 and the rear axle is 9860.

Does that not mean that the rear axle exceeds the GAWR of 9750 by 110 and the GVWR of 14000 by 1640?

I could be wrong, but it appears the trailer may be exceeding the GVWR and GAWR too.

Too bad you didn't weigh your truck alone. You could have obtained a full 13-point weight safety report at the Fifth Wheel Street website.
