When it comes to truck and trailer weights I am kind of clueless. I always felt my truck and trailer combo was at the max, but not knowing my actual weight left me wondering?
While on vacation I found a Cat Certified Truck Scale so I weighed the combo to get the actual weight of both truck and trailer.
The trailer is a 2008 Jayco Eagle RLTS 291 model with 4000 generator on board.
The TV is a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab, 5.9 Cummings, Auto with 3.73 Axle ratio and air bags.
I had a half of tank of diesel fuel and my wife and I weighed in with the truck. The holding tanks were also empty of liquid.
After weighing in here are the results!
Steer-axle = 4500 lb
Drive-axle = 6420 lb
Trailer-axle = 9380 lb
Gross Weight = 20300 lb
What does all this mean in terms of being over the weight limits?

I'd start with your RAWR and more specifically what your tires are rated to carry. Your weight seems very close to tire ratings max. Loaded blowouts can be deadly.

Frostdog,
I have been looking at the 2011 Raptor 300MP and it shows a shipping weight on their website of 11246 lbs. I had always heard that the shipping weights are generally lighter than the actual weights empty but am intrigued that you had the gen tank full and a 1500 lb toy in it and it only weighed 11,020 lb. Does that mean yours weighed around 9,000 lb empty?
Also, what does your 300MP show as a max GRVW? Their website doesn't show the max gross.

We pull this with a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 eight foot bed, quad cab, 6.7 Cummings Diesel equipped with Airlift add on pillows. The truck with full tank came in at 9440 lbs. hitched up to the Raptor. Run with 70 psi rear and 50 psi front on the truck and 80 psi on the trailer quads.
On our recent long trip of near 3000 miles we got as low as 8.7 and a high of 14.3 miles per gallon. The average was 10.8 and we traveled at 65 miles per hour 99% of the trip. Used no oil on the motor with 40k miles. Pulled mountains with no more than one down shift of the six speed Alison. This truck performs very well and rides like a dream-loaded that is.
I am a happy camper!

Stopped at the CAT Scales on way to Chippokes State Park in Va the other day, I had about 3/8's on the fuel gauge, Just me in the truck. All tanks empty. Towing with 2006 Dodge Ram MegaCab SLT 2wd, Husky 16k slider and Firestone Ride Rites.
Steer Axle - 4220
Drive Axle - 4940
Trailer Axle - 8180
Gross - 17340
From Dodge Web site:
With 3.73 Axle Ratio Axle Ratio You Can Tow 12950 lbs
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) = 9000 lbs
Payload = 2116 lbs
Curb Weight = 6884 lbs
Curb Weight Front/Rear = 3961 lbs/3961 lbs
GAWR Front/Rear = 4750 lbs/6010 lbs
Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) = 20000 lbs
I didn;t get a chance to weigh the truck without the Fiver on the back.

This is my weight fully loaded with bikes, generator, full tank of water, empty grey and black tanks.
Steer Axle - 4640
Drive Axle - 5500
Trailer Axle - 8080
Total - 18220
I weighed the truck empty and it weighed in at 8710.
I am under weight on everything except GVWR, which is 8800. I would be interested to see how they compute the GVWR from the factory. I can never be under on GVWR unless all I haul is 90 lb of groceries. Anything else and I am over. These f-250's are nice and strong, but can't leagally haul $#!t. Have since removed generator and bikes to try and get close enough to legal as I can.

Just weighed ours at the Escapee RV-Boot Camp
Truck, 2008, 2WD Ram 3500 Diesel Dually Quad Cab. 2010 38' Grand Junction 5th wheel.
With me, the wife, the dog and a full tank of fuel.
Front GAWR 4750
Rear GAWR 9350
w/o trailer
Front 4570
Rear 3590
Total 7960
w trailer
Front 4540
Rear 6340
Total 10880
Trailer (weekend load, full load of water)
on the axles 10030
tongue wght 2920
Total 12950
GCWR 20,910
Most interesting things are that the front axle of the truck is essentially fully loaded with out the trailer...and that the Reese hitch (which I thought was too far back) is in the perfect place (just like the specs say it is).
Think I'm going to drop the receiver hitch and make sure I load the trailer evenly....

I have a 2008 Dodge 2500 with added 2 leaf springs each side, crew cab, long box, HD, Cummings in line 6 factory installed exhaust brake , 6 speed auto, ST model, rated at 6745# by the State of Florida. Open range 413RLL, GVWR 14165#, the 413 is the sq. foot of living space. All together it comes to, GVWR, 20,910#, right at 53 to 56 feet long going down the road. Now for a look inside the mind of a person who won't look at facts. My best friend's, we have known each other for a little over 60 years, father was a plastering contractor in Daytona Beach, FL. he would always by 1/2 ton trucks, 6 cylinder, 3 speed standard. He would load the bed with as much as he could put in it, and then to bring the front wheels back down on the ground he would put bags of plaster on the hood, any other things he needed he would put on the floor and seat beside him. He never changed the oil, only added some if it was needed and he wouldn't buy new oil, only recycled oil because it was cheaper. Also he would hook his mixer to the hitch and put things in it that he needed to do his work. He passed away about 15 years ago at the age of 96. I told that story to bring to light calculating facts about weight of truck and trailer is great to know what you have but, how many of us going down the road are rock collectors. I have a wife and 15 year old daughter, plus myself if we stay in one spot more than a year we have do the garage sale thing, or toss it in the big green box before heading out to the next stop.
