Topic: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

There will be a memorial for Dan Branson December 11th at the funeral home.

Dan was laid to rest last week at a private ceremony. Lori was in quarantine so she could not do anything.

The last time I spoke to Richard, he told me to keep this thread going. I haven't seen a post in awhile. I hope everyone is doing well.

We had a nice Thanksgiving. We took the motorhome to South Ortona COE park in Moore Haven Florida. It is the first of two locks on the Caloosahatchee River. The river runs from Lake Okeechobee to Ft Meyers bay. I always enjoy staying at this COE park. It's relaxing watching the boats come and go through the lock and there is good fishing from the riverside. Our side was right on the water.

We tried using a thunder vest on Monty this trip. He still gets very stressed while traveling in the motorhome. My wife thinks it helped him but I don't think it did. He made it through our long (1800 mile) trip back in November but he sure wasn't happy. I really wish I could make him more comfortable when we travel.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Burch,

Awhile back, one of your little guys was having a lot of trouble with it's anal glands.

Were you able to get it under control?

Burch, have you tried Bach's Rescue Remedy? I have used it before. It's a natural product for calming. Can be used for people as well.

My Brendon, a new rescue for me, doesn't seem to mind traveling, but he is terrified of traffic and trucks. He doesn't want to get out at rest areas so I have to carry him to the grass. So I ditched the car seat I bought him which allowed him to sit up front and put him in his travel crate on the sofa of the little motorhome. He is very comfortable there and doesn't shake or get anxious because he feels safe and secure in his crate. This crate is just a smaller version of his one at home.

Yes, my Chihuahua Pinto had his glands cleaned and so far he has been fine. There have been no other issues since the surgery.

I'm not sure if we have tried Bach's. We have tried several natural remedies but nothing seems to work. The only way to get him to calm down a little is if my wife rides in the back and puts him on the couch with her. He doesn't like rough roads and he doesn't like the sound of the engine if I am going up a hill. He just pants the whole trip.

Once we get designated, he is happy. But when we start getting ready to leave, he starts shaking and it breaks my heart to see him so scared/upset. My other two dogs just sleep the whole trip.

We made it to Dan Branson’s memorial Saturday. It was very nice the Fraternal order of Police had a very nice ceremony.
Sue made the trip and it was great to see her and spend some time with her and Lori.

With this crazy weather we are having, hope everyone is staying safe.

Looking for an answer as to why my little Rocky licks the blankets at night when we go to bed. Any thoughts? He is a 14 year old Shih Tzu.
