Have you tried anti-anxiety meds for Monty? I recall way back when, while in college, when I worked for a vet, the vet prescribed similar meds for their dog for traveling, if I recollect correctly. Maybe that might help?

We have tried a couple of different things that the vet recommended but they didn't help.

The first time we took a long trip, I had to pull over after a few hours because he was almost hyperventilating. He doesn't get that bad anymore but when I pick him up and put him in the motorhome, he starts shaking and it breaks my heart seeing him shake. He usually quits shaking after a few minutes but he pants and we have to pull over every hour or so to give me water because he gets so thirsty. We have tried putting him in different locations in the motorhome but nothing seems to work. If he get loose, he tries to get under my feet while I am driving which is not a good thing!

Thank you all for your condolences. It's hard to lose a loved one and I've lost my husband and my Mom within 11 months of each other. Not what I wanted. But I know they are in a better place.

Thanks again!

I just heard from Sue.

Richard had a stoke September 30th. He has been getting worse since then. He is now in Hospice care. He is not aware of anything at all.

Dale we are so sorry for your loss and wish you all the best (and no stress!) while you cope with the estate.

We're also so sorry to hear Richard is in hospice. It comes to us all eventually, but it's still a blow. We've all had such good times. I wish him well as he heads over the Bridge.

So sorry to hear about Richard. Strokes are definitely difficult. We believe my Mom had a second one after which she went downhill rapidly. But that was a blessing. Being in a body that doesn't work or respond is a bad place to be.

Praying for Richard and Sue.

Thank you Dernhelm for your condolences.

Such a sad time to check in and read. Dale so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing, wishing you safe travels.

So very sorry to hear about Richard. I sure miss his daily posts and beautiful writing, seems like such a kind man.

I survived trail riding in Bryce Canyon and the ride there & back, I still hate heights. Getting ready to go to TN and ride our own horses. I have a new one, I sure hope he does good, he's a little spooky.

Safe travels to all.

ETA: Prayers for Richard & Sue. I can't believe I left that off.

Thank you, Shadow57. Good luck with that horse. I've never had one, but I love all animals.
