Topic: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Posted By: Dixie Flyer on 09/28/19 05:41am

Good morning everyone. I hope all is well with you this morning. Sue and I went to bed early last night so we were up before the chickens. It was warm all night compared to what we have been having. We still need rain, everything is wilting from the heat and drought. We are still having summer time temperatures during the day, Yesterday we were close to 90 and today will be more of the same.

I really would like to get the camper out and go some where, but it looks as if there is always something that keeps us home. Today I will wash the 72 Lincoln and this afternoon we have an activity with the church.

Burch I hope your water leak is fixed. Don't worry about Murphy and just come on to Sevierville and enjoy yourselves. We will have a great time fellowshipping around the campfire at night, telling tall tales and looking forward to a day time adventure.

I have been posting the Old Fella story to face book. I started from the beginning and now am up to Fella being at Dr. Gradious. When I am finished I will put it in book form and see about getting it printed.

Sue is about to walk out the door with the girls so I had better get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

Murphy was so sweet yesterday when I got home from work. She is always the first one at the door greeting me.

I was able to get the motorhome back yesterday. The repair center took off the awning topper and sealed across the top of the slide roof. They also found a screw that was sticking up though the roof. They repaired that as well. Why didn't Camping World see the screw? The cost for the repair was less than I was expecting so I am really glad I found this place. I won't know if it is fixed or not until we have a good rain but I am feeling good about the repair.

I will make a decision on Murphy closer to the time we leave. I am leaning towards taking her as she is entitled to a vacation as well. She just doesn't like being left alone now that she is older. We are going to see if the vet can give her something to calm her while we are away from the motorhome. I also want everyone to meet her, along with my other fur kids.

Donna's birthday was yesterday. I always tease her that she is "robbing the cradle" as she is 7 1/2 years older than me. The older we both get, the smaller that time frame seems. She wanted to go to the Immokalee Hard Rock Casino Hotel. Immokalee is a small farming town Southeast of Ft. Myers Florida. It's in the middle of nowhere and only about 20 miles north of Alligator Alley. It's right at a 2 hour drive from our house. Donna likes to play the slot machines so we are here for a little weekend get away. She won a little money last night and we had a really good dinner. The restaurants here at the hotel are really good. She was able to get the hotel room for free and also all the meals. I got off cheap for her birthday! Just gas money for the truck!

My two nieces are staying at our house this weekend watching our dogs. I did not miss taking out the dogs at 6am this morning to do their business (I was able to sleep in) but I sure do miss their wagging tails and happy faces. It will be good to be back home tomorrow.

I was hoping to be able to watch the Florida Gator football game today but the hotel doesn't have the SEC Network. I guess I will have to keep up on the score on my phone app.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Weather has been fall like here the last week. Tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday the heat will be back with the humidity. Tuesday the are forecasting 90. But the Thursday it will only be in the 60’s and Friday night Saturday morning we maybe in the low 40’s. We already had at least 1 morning in the upper 40’s. It has been getting cool in the evenings that sometimes requires a light jacket.

Donna got me a drone for Christmas 2 years ago. Here are some pictures from our last trip in Cedar Key I took with the drone. We had a camping spot on the water.

This is a picture of myself, Donna and Murphy taken from the drone hovering over the water.

I had to resize the pictures to post them because they are so big. I resized them too small so the pictures are a little fuzzy but the drone has a 4K video camera and takes high res pictures.

Dan we are at 92 degrees right now. It's hot and dry, not fall weather I assure you. Burch nice pictures. I have been watching the Falcons and Titians hoping the Falcon will show up at some point of the game.

Yesterday I saw a 1948 Mercury that was in great shape, almost like new. It is black so in the summer heat and sunshine it will be like an oven inside the car. How did we stand those cars back in the day without A/C? The 73 Lincoln is doing great and it's a pleasure to drive it now that the front end has been repaired and the A/C blows cold.

It's a lazy day here in the Deep South. I think of the forty dogs and puppies that left for NEAS over the weekend. On the long ride I am sure they are wondering where they are headed and what is in store for them. Once there and they find their forever homes they will live a life of security and love, leaving behind a life of fear and some near death when found. Of course they were taken care of in the care of the Old Fella Burke County Animal Rescue. It was there they found peace and regular meals along with lots of love.

Okay I am going to close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

Happy Birthday Sue.

The leaves are starting to get a little color here. Right now we have more brown and yello then anything but there us a little red mixed in with a lot of green right now.
