They made clean cutouts for my lover hatch openings with the protective film sheathong cut even w/ the thin luan plywood and the clean cut is generally 1/8" away from the inside edge of the oval door metal frame. So water could get into this small gap. All wood is solid, and only around genset are there potential issues: across the bottom, the fikm is puchered off the luan, and going up the right side, it is loose - wood still solid.

What/where is Gorilla tape, and how is it w/r duck tape (redneck's dream tool).

Gorilla Tape is a brand of better duck tape. Supposedly much better. I will say that the adhesive gets on my fingers just from handling a piece, and it takes some work to get it off.

Gorilla Tape is sold in hardware stores.

Currently RV-less but not done yet.

Thx

My typos are terrible as I reread my post again

The opening for the genset had the most issues, but still had not allowed plywood damage. The film is puckering away from the wood along the bottom edge between the oval metal frame and the lower metal C channel.

And about a 6"x6" patch of the film is loose from the wood to the right of the opening.

***

I just looked again, and though loose along the bottom, the film is tucked in under the metal opening and lower channel.

I may tape the open edge to the oval metal to clamp shut the right loose patch of film and mayne premptively similarly tape over the 1/8" gap where it occurs elsewhere.

Burl, I think that would be good prevention. It's a very nice feeling to know you've waterproofed your RV. I'm heading out this afternoon to putter some more on it.

Jan, one never knows, hence the required fine tooth comb! Born Free is considered one of the best B+ units, but 80,000 miles is 80,000 miles, and it's chassis is no better than anyone elses.
Burl, Gorilla tape is at Home Depot, and yes, it's stronger/better than run of the mill duct tape.

Hey Cheeze

Any new RVs in your future?

Posted By: JanTx on 07/07/13 12:49pm

hey gang! we bought the '95 Born free for less than $20k! it is the cutest thing and will be great for us! we traded our '07 Caddy which we did NOT need any more. The dealer Kerrville RV is the BEST! they even put in a new fuel pump for the same price..none extra I mean. THey are very reputable and have a great service dept. THis rig is a one owner and from right there. The fact that we are only out about 9K is great for us. Im so excited and will post photos when we get it home. This forum is great! you all helped me so much know how to LOOK for the quality rig. more later!

We've used our FW tank for all our water needs for 8 yrs, and only just come up w/ a clarity prob in one batch.

We emptied tank running the water pump. Then, I found a little T-handle drain that you unscrew w/ several turns and releases a thin stream of H2O to the outside - it is a black hose screwed into the tank side (near to) the bottom of the tank.

Is this thin stream proper to you guys?

Wouldn't there still be some very bottom dirty water left below the lower edge of the side black hose opening?

If so, how do I easily get all water to drain?
