In layman's terms (and I'm a layman): Not if the voltage is not high enough to push the amps into the battery. It is like filling a tire to 65 psi with a compressor only putting out 70 psi (takes forever), versus a compressor putting out 140 psi. Volts are pressure, amps are volume or quantity. Both are needed to put a charge back into a battery. Further, charging at 13.x volts will lead to sulfation. Sulfation gradually diminishes the capacity until the battery is shot. The battery needs 14.4v charging, give or take, to remove each usage cycle's accumulation of lead sulfate from the plates and fully recharge it. Currently RV-less but not done yet. |

I have a cheap sears batt charger that does 2, 10, and 50 amp charging, and I don't recall if it's 13.8 V or a bit higher. But if this simple cheap charger can be set to do 10 amps in an hour, can't the parallax? 2005 Trail Lite 213 B-Plus w/ 6.0 Chevy

It all depends on the voltage, Burl. You could have a 100 amp charger but if it doesn't put out high enough voltage it is meaningless. The Parallax has no settings. It has some logic built in regulating the amps output, but not the voltage. The Sears charger I'm sure uses a higher voltage, because it is built exclusively to charge batteries. The cheap OEM converters are built to provide clean coach power, and charge batteries in a so-so fashion. |

Since this topic doesn't seem to have very wide readership, I started a new thread with this question. But I thought I should ask here too to cover my bases. Those of you with Trail Lites, does your Onan cause vibration in the coach? The floor feeling buzzy, anything like that? Or is it practically still, other than the sound? I'm thinking I might have one or more bad rubber mounts on the genset. One of them certainly looks like it could be going bad. |

No vibration that I would say is unusual. You can tell it's running, but not annoying.

No vibration on our 211S. There is cooling fan noise, but not enough to keep me awake. We make sure carbon monoxide detector is working. The way to test the kind that plug into 110V, use an extension cord to carry the unit to the exhaust pipe to see if it activates. 2002 Trail-Lite Model 211-S w/5.7 Chevy (click View Profile) Gene |

None worth mention - smooth running. Do feel it at startup and shutdown.

Thanks folks, that is interesting. Ours makes a drumming type vibration which I can feel coming through the floor. Our mutt is a nervous one and she is not going to like it.

I'd check for any cabling, fuel lines, exhaust pipe which may not be properly isolated that may be hitting frame or floor.
