We own a 75 American Clipper with a 360. My dad bought it new, and I bought it from him in 1985. It has over 125000 miles on it, and goes from Salt Lake to Las Vegas (Nascar), and Yellowstone every year. I was a mechanic for almost 20 years, and maintained it for my dad when he owned it. It has never left us stranded. Granted, we've had to do minor repairs on the road, but nothing to ruin a trip. We're in the process of preparing our home to sell to retire full time into a RV. As soon as the house sells, we're selling the class "C". It will be like losing a loved one. For 39 years (I camped with my dad many times in the rv) it has been just like home. Sold the house, retired, and full timing. 15 years of dreams come true! 2015 Itasca 33C, Black Garnet 2013 Honda CRV EXL toad Roadmaster Sterling all terrain tow bar Roadmaster Tow Shield Roadmaster Guardian SMI "Stay-in-Play" Brake system ISL "Toad Charge" |

Thanks for the replies guys, I see the old group is still around. I checked the tires today on this RV and they are 10 yrs. old, but the tread looks brand new (this only has 44,000 miles on it). It also has a nice updated fridg. & seems to be pretty well taken care of. So, now I have to decide how much to offer this guy. We like it for the layout, so I figure we'll get it so I'll be back asking questions once again. Oh, happy times are here again! I hope everyone has been doing well while I was away. Happy camping!

Tires are supposed to be replaced 6 years from the manufacture date regardless of the tread.

^ yup. It's actually not the tread that's the issue, it's the sidewalls. And at 6-7 yrs, they dry-rot and crack and become really dangerous on a vehicle the size of an RV.

lol Yup, Blowouts provide serious 'pucker factor'! I'm looking at a set that have less than 10k on them. Only one is showing cracking. Hurts the wallet, but I guess it's gotta be done. Hoppe 2011 Dodge 1500 C'boy Caddy 2000 Jayco C 28' Ford chassis w V-10 E450 Doghouse 36' or so Trophy Classic TT |

Well, today I started checking things out. It seems to have two fresh water tanks (30 gal. ea.), ! grey tank along behind the driver & 1 Large tank across the back for the toilet and shower. It also has an updated 3 way refrig that was put in on 2/95. Lots of storage room & room for a gen if I want to add, even has air shocks! I was even lucky enough to pick up a "Fantastic Fan" vent that was almost new for $10.00 today. Hows that for luck.... I'm almost overwhelmed. Now to get into the engine compartment, I think things are are going to be a little different there. I diffinately can hear a miss from in there somewhere. Wish me luck....Jerry
