Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Posted By: Trish Davis on 11/13/11 08:50am

Yes !!

I am so sick of "can you: refill my coffee, feed the cats (who assumes I can bend down to a food bowl?), check the air in the frt tires, etc"

If it falls on the floor, it stays until an offspring picks it up because I can't.

Not in a million years did I believe my body would desert me like this.
Aches & pains, no big deal, we all get them and get through them.

Like Leeann, I want to what I want to do.
And the stuff I want to do is stuff that I've always done and needs done.

This sorta-life has been going on for a year+ and I'm fed up with it.

The Travco's crying to get wrapped up against the winter. The Merc's garage door has a nifty bottom-half replacement that I should have done before surgery and here it's almost Thanksgiving.

Can't wait to attempt mashed potatoes... Like I can stand that long.

I want to be the one outside working on my vehicles.

Were I able, I'd be doing the lower intake manifold gasket on my Safari while the bf finished up the brakes on the RV.

Grrrrr....

Uh huh.

I NEVER dreamed I'd******out on myself this early. Actually, I had it
figured that I would die before thirty from either of the following, or a combination thereof:

Angry father of a girl.
Angry husband (not mine lol).
Massive overdose of something illegal or not.
Car, motorcycle or plane wreck.

Had I known then what I know now I would have lived a better lifestyle. But I didn't and it's payback time. In spite of all
the sheer misery and the simple, smoldering hatred I harbor for
not being able to do anymore what I was once formerly able to do,
there are good moments in it all when I think of that line from
from Bob Seger's "Travelin' Man":

"Those are the memories that make me a wealthy soul". That, and the
grandkids make is a really cool thing to grow old.

I never was a big fan of John Denver, but his song about how: "Some days are diamonds, some days are stone" seems to hold some truth that
I didn't believe earlier. Truth of it all is there really are more diamonds than stones, if you take the time to count all the tiny ones...

Mashed potatoes can be prepared while seated. And they are a WONDERFUL way to release anger! I can't tell you just how many of my "enemies" have been peeled, boiled and smashed by nothing more than my blazing rage, and a big spud masher! I have been known to CLEAR a kitchen when I get out that long handled tool of destruction I call the POTATONATOR!

I'll be back... for more spuds...

hola, Mark.
Well, I never thought it would happen.

My dad turned 50 3 months after I was born and worked hard, yeah at work, but also doing the things he loved. Every day.
His grandmother died at 102 after spending the day weeding her garden.
My mother's mother was 90.
My other grandmother died at 85, but only because a drunk driver ran over her.

I come from long-lived, strong, Irish peasant stock that does not wear out in a half century!

Well, I wouldn't have...
Live a better lifestyle like what... Not eat, not drive, not ride a bike, what? Tell ya, had I known at 30 I was gonna wear out at 51, I'd have done it all over but done it harder!

Trish, I gotta agree with you...

I would have played a LOT HARDER!! I intend to arrive on flats on all fours, dents and missing pieces, and leaking fluid everywhere, then have my life do the death rattle and have a con rod exit the block, then jump out and yell "WHATTA RIDE!! CAN I GO AGAIN??!!" I'm sorry.
I'm too danged fat to sit on a cloud. And twang on a harp? Please...
Gimme a Hammond B-3 or a upright bass. And flight capability? ME?
I'd be like the "Spruce Goose"! My gramps said there ain't no bathrooms in Heaven, so I ain't intending to go. And for as bad as my joints hurt, and the fact that I'm gonna be cremated, Hell doesn't sound too bad either. But if there ain't no bathrooms, it's a no go too.

And I'm from good Irish and Scottish peasant stock, and I have all the good "Appalachian" genetics too. My grandparents were in their
late eighties when they died, and Pop had one massive stroke and that stopped him, Mamaw pined away after she lost Pop. My father kicked off when he turned 81. His father died after taking his fourth wife, and five years after my father was born, my father's mother antagonized us until Satan claimed her at 92.

I'm a real wimp. Compared to them. But I ain't dead yet. And as long as I'm refrigerated I don't smell too bad lol...

If she won't, I will... "They're" going to have to drag me kicking and screaming all the way, and then make sure they lock the gates.

I hope you all get into better health. I am thankful everyday for mine. It is sooo true it is something money (usually) cannot buy. Take care and I am sure you will still help some Dodge owners with questions.

I came across this thread and I just needed to say hello. My first RV was a '72 Winnebago Indian with a Dodge 413. I loved that old rig with a passion. I rebuilt, overhauled or replaced every system on that motorhome and knew it like the back of my hand. With its high ground clearance I was able to drive it up jeep roads high up in the mountains. It was built like a tank. We had many memorable trips in it when my kids were young. However, when it went over 100,00 miles its engine started getting "tired" and it couldn't pass emissions. We were faced with putting in a new engine or putting the money into a new rig. We happened upon the HR that you see below and decided it was time for something larger. We love the new rig. It is bigger and much more comfortable for my wife and I, but we aren't able to take it to some of the great places that we used to go to. I wish we could have them both!

(Mr. Denison, you may remember me from "Classic Winnebagos". I'm the guy who sold you the Holley. I put an Edelbrock in instead which worked out better for me.)
