Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Posted By: WestBangorMI on 03/02/11 09:40pm

Wow! Another Day Another discovery

Thanks to all who eased my mind on oil pressure, I looked on other sites concerning the same. My conclusion is that there are many Dodge's in this world that have faulty or erratic gauges. I am going on to other things, I will change oil several times and install a manual gauge but that will be delayed some.

As the snow melted I detected water dripping from the rear upper cabinet. I poked around at the discolored paneling on the ceiling and yes my fingers went right through. So I began the terrible task of removing the cabinet and the ceiling. I was both Happy and dismayed with what I found. The roof is 1/2 inch OSB and is rotted along the very back edges and in the area where the galvanized roofing overlaps the back siding and is screwed down.

It will require stripping back the roofing and replacing the osb, What I was pleased to discover is that the Country Squire uses an all aluminum boxed and welded frame. Time consuming work will follow but nothing that scares me to much.

I think I'll use 1-1/2" Styrofoam for the insulation when it's time and in the wall 1" as the box tubing allows.

I did have some experience working at Avion Coach in Benton Harbor. That was thirty some years ago and only for about three years. I was a cabinet assembler, and also worked in the plant that made the Class C interior.

Maybe things will start coming back to me as I get into my task. I started slow with ideas because money is limited, I could have been satisfied with a little discoloration and not a luxury model home.
Now I am forced to change my mind and repair as necessary.

A little background, I am an old country boy, raised in the rural area North of Benton Harbor, MI. My family didn't have running water or an inside bathroom before I was nine. I've never owned a new vehicle, and my home will always need more work before completion.

My little motor home will provide me if nothing else a hobby, though I have insured and tagged it. I have also driven it enough to know it will be worthy of taking a few desired trips or to the Allegan Forrest.

Got to get some rest, I want to peel back the roof tomorrow.

Welcome back, oldtrucker!

Someone was asking about milage a page or so back. My 360 gets around 9 @ 55ish. I was getting 10-11 until last summer, I had vapor lock issues and discovered the fuel pump was only about 30%. Replaced pump which solved problem but my milage suffered some(small price to pay for not being stuck on the hills)

Bobnshellz: I redid alot of my interior although I didn't change the structure. We painted the inside, replace the countertops, put new vinyl paneling around the shower stall, new flooring, toilet, cushion covers, curtains etc. Didn't spend alot of money on that but really makes it feel newer, fresher etc.... enjoy your find, we have enjoyed ours.

I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere!

Rummaging in the garage today, I found a piece of MoPar wiring harness. It's for the "flat" solid state regulator used with isolated field alternators. I don't know how hard it is to find one or if anybody needs it, but PM me if you do.

Ahh, spring. I'm restless and it's raining.
Actually, I am complaining specifically.

Went to the chiro who ordered an X-ray, then said he was "not touching" my back and sent me on to a neurosurgeon. He ordered an MRI and asked me "how long I'd been retired from NFL football."

PT + 3 cortisone injections, I'm up for a discogram (google it, it's disgusting) before they fuse discs.

You bet, I'm complaining.

hey, Oldtrucker--

Your rig is coming. Like the new digs, too.
But i gotta now how your sister could tolerate 3 of those operations.

Yah, I know what it feels like and I feel like I'd do about anything to make it not hurt.

What did I do? Fell on a restaurant wet floor. Truth.
Slipped wearing my new nifty Harley-D boots with the non-skid urethane soles.

Right away, I knew it was bad because my legs were numb(ish).
ER doc /ER idiot said I "pulled a muscle." Medical fool.

That was April, 1990. April '91, I started working out like I meant it to keep the muscles strong enough to hold me up. Worked for a long time.

The last 2 1/2 years have been rough on my back; either had jobs sitting or constantly bending and, alas, I am no longer young.

So here I am. Back's killing me, I can't walk, the yard is screaming for attention.
So's the Merc. So's the Travco. H$ll, I can't even lift my cat.

But I welcome advice from Oldtrucker --or anyone else who's been through this. Mine're L5 - S1.
