eyeteeth wrote: Also, ran into a strange issue that has me a little baffled. I have a coolent leak. It looks to be weeping from around the bottom of the water pump at the top of the hose. The hose is new from last fall when I rebuilt the engine. Running it last weekend, the gas guage moved more than the temp... I never added water (after we initially worked on it) and would be perfectly dry when I'd stop, but ten minutes later is would leak a little again. I 'thought' maybe the radiator cap pooped out, that it wasn't venting anymore so it escaped at the next weakest point when the coolent was no longer circulating and getting the extra temps from sitting in the motor. However, after replacing the cap... now I noticed a small puddle again under the hose. 3 days after replacing the cap? Anyone have any other suggestions. Uhm, yeah. Another thought. You been running the A/C or defrost much? And you might want to stick the old cap back on. Less pressure until you find out exactly where the coolant leak is. Your genny exhaust rocks. |

My name is Corey and i live in idaho falls idaho and we recently bought a 78 dodge brougham rv and are having issues with finding information on it. I was hoping you all could possibly share with us (my wife and i) on how to run it? We had to buy it cause i got laid off from my job and have no where else to live and we have a 1 year old and another on the way and really needed this so were very thankfull we found it for such a good price. We cannot figure out how to switch this to battery power and or how to charge the battery for the rv. It has a battery ina compartment to the right of next to where the generator should be but someone took the generator before we go it. We just have it connected to a outside power source for electricity. there is a big black cord witch i understand is the shore line under the stove, there under the stove is a silver inverter and a biege breaker box. there is a outlet that looks like you would plug the shoreline into it and a outlet with two standard plugs on it. one of witch has a plug in it witch goes to the inverter.. I dont understand the whole thing. someone told me that i need to plug the shore line intothat plug that is next to the breaker box that looks like the dryer plug. Also i hhave been trying to find breaks for the front since it's ground the old brake pads down to the rotors just about and cant find a parts number or breaks anywhere. I have figured out somehow that it is on MB400 chassis and ours has duals in the rear. Im just curious if you can tell me how this all runs and give me any information you can share on how to run this rv. Do you know if it has a hot water heater?.. Please any information would be really helpfull! We are living in this thing now full time and with winter coming i would really like to get the brake pads on there and figure this rv out. It already really cramped and kind of depressing but i know getting it running better and everything working would make everything a lot easier! My vin is f44cf8v719172 if any one can decode and tell me any more information as that i have called auto zone checkers and local rv dealership and even Dodge customer service and they all EVEN DODGE dont know anything! |

Hi Mortland, Welcome to the club. I had to replace my rotors last year and I found them at JC Whitney. I found the brake pads a Shucks Auto. A lot of the parts you will need can be found by looking under a B300 chassis listing, as most auto stores will not have the MB400 listed.

Mortland, If you are hooked to shore power and living in it full-time, then you don't need a battery. Note that a battery only runs the lights, water pump and furnace. When you are connected to shore power everything 12v is powered by the "converter" not the battery. A converter converts 110v AC to 12v DC. I don't think you have an "inverter" which converts 12v DC to 110v AC. RV's of the age of yours didn't come with inverters. It is possible that someone added one later. Unless you do have an inverter and unless the inverter has been hardwired into the RV's AC wiring, then your 110v AC outlets will only work when plugged into shore power (or when a generator is running in RVs that have them). Also, it is very likely that the battery is dead anyway. You said you have it connected to an outside source for electricity. Are your 110v AC outlets working? If they are, then your lights and water-pump should also be working. Are they? I was in Idaho Falls once, back in the 70's. I fact it was right about this time of year too. |

Inside of that breaker box, Check the switches because there is one for a gen and one for shore power and one shuts the other off, Like if the gen breaker is on it will not let the shore power breaker be on at the same time.

Qhen I check auto zone it says that its a b300 one ton van under u telling me to search b300 but mine is a mb400 2 ton chassis will those breaks fit? And your right it is a power convertor but still when im not plugged into shore power none of my light s work in the rv our any other power.. It supposedly has a brand new battery in it. But people tell me there should be a switch but I can't find it. And I dunno how to try to use the pump.. But I don't think we will cause it's winter and I don't want to chance damaging anything.. From my bin number above can any one tell me what size motor I have? |

There has to be loads of RV campgrounds within a quick drive around there. If it was me, I'd drop in to a few of them and see if any of the people around would be helpful for awhile. I don't know about anybody else, but I haven't met too many (ok, none) RV'ers/Campers that are true 'jerks' and wouldn't mind giving out advice. |
