Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Posted By: eyeteeth on 04/24/10 06:59am

I ordered the new aluminum radiator. The repair shop looked at it and thought we would end up chasing leaks... fix one... then end up with another one to fix...

They offered to re core it... but that was going to cost more than the new one.

Now makes me wonder why the alum one is so 'cheap'. We'll see... should have it early next week.

Probably the best decision. Aluminum is simply cheaper than other rad materials. And as good or better at the job, to boot.

Because they sell online, they probably don't have a storefront, which means they only need warehouse space, which is something like 1/4 of the cost of retail space. Warehouse employees are cheaper than retail employees.

howdy, ya'll!! I recently became the proud new owner of 1977 class c Honey on a Dodge mb400 frame. My wife believes me to be crazy as I have been reading this thread for a few weeks now. I thought it about time to introduce myself as I feel that I have gotten to know all of you over the past few weeks. I am still only about 100 pages into it right now but I will continue reading and learning as I go. The beast is in rather good mechanical condition, as far as the chassis goes, I just need to change the brakes all the way around. Most of what is left inside is in decent enough shape, there isn't a fridge, or heater, roof has been resealed and got a gallon to put on another coat. The PO replaced the insulation and wood in the cab-over bunk and I will put up some new paneling and mattress. We are planning our maiden voyage Memorial Day weekend and make updates as we can and as we see fit. Hope to catch some of you down the road a bit.

Todd

Well, yea... 'bout time. [emoticon] Welcome.

I recently bought the Walmart 4" memory foam mattress for my cab over. (Green side up... [emoticon] ) The wife is now buying another one we plan on cutting in half to replace the bunk mattresses in back. Yea... it was that much of an improvement.

What roof coating are you referring too? I have been working to get the fiber filled silver stuff, and other******that's accumulated over the years off mine to replace with eternabond and dicor.

Where are the pics of your rig? Need pics. [emoticon] This is a great resource for information. A few members here (and you know who they are already) can find just about any information you may need.

I'll echo what eye said about the mattress - we put a Sam's Club 3" memory foam topper on our dinette bunk cushions and the difference is amazing - had to buy one for the stick-built house, too.

The Aluminum Radiator will cool much better than the old style and last twice as long......Good choice.

A note on the foam mattress... it took me over a year to actually find one IN a store.

This is what we picked up, and plan on buying a second for the boys.It can also be branded as Canopy instead of Spa Sensations.

And thanks for helping to put my mind at ease on the Radiator.

wow what a thread, im on day 3 and only at page 115.

im the new owner of a (22ft i think) 1972 tioga with a 360, 2 barrel stock carb, dual exhaust, 59 thousand miles , no leaks. i will post pics soon.

im going to live and travel in this thing for the next 6 months or so.
the plan is up the hwy 395 from ridgecrest to northers cali maybe even into oregon and washington.

the engine seems to be in great shape but i dont like the 16.5 tires

ANYONE KNOW about what kind of mileage this thing should get???

i was thinking about 7mpg just to be safe but then i noticed its only got a 2 barrel and i see a few post in this monster of a thread that have me thinking more like 9-11mpg
