Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Sorry to hear that Eyeteeth.... I fired mine up and went for a short drive on saturday. Everything seemed to work fine... getting itchy to get out and do some camping....

I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere!

1 - I can smell it.

2 - Haven't been able to check yet. I've been working inside time windows...

Sorry, I got it backwards ... forgot something Horace Tuck taught me almost 40 years ago: "Ignition first, fuel second."

If you can smell fuel, there's a chance it's flooding, probably from a stuck carburetor float.

In any case, check the ignition ... if you need good, properly timed spark first.

The carb was just rebuilt, but I figure its flooding from the bad choke spring.

Try PB Blaster. Soak the threads and bump the bolt several times a day for several days. (I've found PB Blaster works if you give it a few days and tap on the bolt to help it work into the threads.)

It's best to stay with the same size bolts, if at all possible.

Looks like a little bit of flooding, but mostly due to a weak spark. It's new coil... we tried a second one... and a different set of wires. I think the rotor in the distributor needs to be cleaned.

We'll see.

Eyeteeth,

A couple of weeks ago mine wouldn't start. I found that the rotor had carbon on it (even though the distributor cap was completely clean). After cleaning the rotor it started right up. The rotor is almost new.

Mine has been sitting for over a year and only run at idle every couple of weeks. Perhaps that causes the carbon build up on the rotor.

Mine is a 78 440.
