This is interesting...but what do you all think?
No matter if you want to start your own RV sales lot, or already have a RV Dealership. Sort of like a 7-11 franchise or a Taco Bell...or even a Dodge/Ford/Toyota dealer!
I haven't seen anything like this before...and on the surface it sounds like a great idea. Sort of like a hassle free way to get the best prices.
Without going to a wholesale non-factory authorized dealer with no dealer warranty support.
Riverside RV and Evergreen (including the new division Lifestyle RV formerly Carriage RV) have signed up and will provide volume wholesale "best priced" RV's to the new Family Tree Dealer Franchises.
Story here....

I think it's going to be a hard sale. He's sort of putting the cart before the horse hoping dealers will sign up when he only has two small manufacturers on board. He needs to get the biggies to offer guaranteed significant discounts. I wouldn't buy into any franchisor without knowing, exactly, what I was getting. He really is offering nothing at this point and asking the franchisees to give up their name, get a dba, were his shirts, etc., etc.

I gotta wonder Slate, Why did you post in "Beginning RVing"?
Maybe the marketing needs to be a little more pro-active. It's wonderful to say your going to sell franchises. But really, what are you selling. I see nothing in the article that tells me what they are supplying to their franchisees. I see where they want $49,900. And want a separate independent building. And want the franchisees to pay all the legal "DBA" fees.
And if I already have an RV dealership, why would I need to add another brick and mortar that would be dedicated to your line. Give me a reason why I should do this?
So if I was interested to be a possible franchise candidate, my first question would be, "What do I get for my money?" My second question would be how are you going to guarantee that I get it. My third question is "How is this going to make sure I am different and better than the competition. Is my territory protected."
Based on the article it may generate some interest. But at face value, not something an established dealer would jump up on the table and say, "I want to sign up right now."

Says the 50 G fee is a yearly fee, then farther down it says most dealers will recoup that fee in 4-5 years.Guess they figure the other 4-5 yearly fees mean nothing.

”For most of us ($49,900) is chump change." Maybe for him since his 2011 sales were $6 million, but for many dealers, that sum would be cost prohibitive. He says it's to make the smaller dealers more cost competitive. My guess is that he will not have too many takers.
