The April, 2012, issue of Bird Talk Magazine, states that an Official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (OCVI) is a legal requirement when crossing state lines with a parrot. Our Double Yellowhead Amazon has been with us in 35 different states, and we have never been asked to show any documentation.
Has anyone EVER been asked to show an OCVI or other document while traveling with a parrot in an RV? (It's a different story if traveling by air.)
ps: We have obtained the "parrot passport" needed to cross international borders. It's Alaska or bust next summer!

According to The U.S. Department of Agriculture, the rules vary from State to State.
There are links at the above site to the various State rules.

Not sure just WHERE you would go to present any required papers since NO STATE I know of requires inspection to cross. California USED to have a produce stop where you declare produce you might be bringing in but I believe even they stopped that years ago. Can't say for sure about Canada but they sure never even questioned if we had ANY animals in our RV at any crossing we ever made.

I went to California last summer, and yes, they do still have Ag. inspection stations at which one's required to stop when entering the State.
And Staters standing by ready to chase non-compliers, I might add...
I don't remember if they asked about birds, though.
