I was corrected here a while back in that it doesn't increase the pressure, but does increase the velocity.
I found a third party FULL shutoff valve and installed it at the base of the handle. I appreciate being able to shut it off completely.

We bought the holder recommended but I can see traveling down the road it will not stay up in air. The bouncing is gonna make it droop down if you know what I mean, then it's gonna bounce out. The Oxyie is very heavy and don't want it flailing around in the shower. Even if it stays in the holder I can see where it's heavy enough that bouncing down the hwy it will eventually rip the holder off the wall even with the screws.
We have had our Oxygenic for over 4 years and it has not bounced out nor drooped or ripped out of the wall yet in 2 years of fulltiming. Our bathroom is located right over the wheels, so maybe the shock absorbers are doing their job. I would just take it out of the holder before traveling if it is a concern for you.

Ours is one of the original metal ones too, so it is heavy.

Ok now I see why yours stays put, you got an Alpenlite and like our old Alpie has solid residential style shower plumbing. We moved to a Montana which like a lot of 5ers already had the hose and sprayer attached to the wall with just s small holder for the sprayer. We don't have the shower spout up above but it comes out of the diverter from below with just a holder up above. Even screwed and taped I doubt the holder is gonna hold on to the bouncing around. I reckon it will be another place for the use of velcro lol.
yeah yeah I know, shoulda stayed with the Alpenlite lol lol....

Nice Shower! From plastic to chrome makes a big difference. Also our shower is off-white/creme colored. White is so much brighter! That metal shower head would be great in the stick house too.
Our holder is molded into the shower so it could hold a heavier shower head, but this one is all plastic.
Here are a few pics:

The shower has two molded pole holders inside so that it can be used to hang clothes. When we had guests, we used this extra hanging space, the pipe insulation is to keep the hangers on the pole on the road.

This is where I installed the shut off, between the dial to change the pressure and the head. It is the only place where the shorter threads of the control would fit and allow the connection to tighten. It completely shuts off the flow of water though and the push button is easier to use that a dial.

Another view--shows how tall the new shower head is--almost to the skylight. The 3M hooks were installed by the PO, they are solid and have stayed connected where my 3m installations tend to pop off in hot weather.

Cheap faucet in shower--this is the only one I have not replaced. But it was easy to connect the shower head and now I can use the old one in the S&B if I get around to it.
We're hooked!

We had the same problem you do with the shut off. Seems the one in the handle is made to drip or leak as to prevent a blast of hot water when you turn it on. After about 2 or 3 trips with it, we went back to the OEM shower head. Now it sits in my garage. Agreed.. I did the same test and the Oxygenics actually uses more water than the OEM Itasca head...... At full volume. The nice thing is that we run the Oxy head at or below 50%, and it still has a stronger spray than the OEM on full.
This was the 1st year in Q with this head, and there was a marked difference in water savings in the 12 days we were there. Where we are normally ready to reload in 9 days, this time we went 12, and probably could have gone an additional 2 changing nothing.
PS- I didn't use the OXY hose and valve. We stayed with the OEM hose and the valve I installed on the other end of the hose next to the wall. It's a nice 90 degree turn with a little handle and easy to adjust with soapy fingers.

Thanks for the bucket results! I suspected that the flow was about the same amount of water and that disappointed me. I wanted better flow and using LESS water. Too pie in the sky I guess. I can tell the flow is "harder" though and I like the longer hose. I read about other folks installing a shut off so I bought one for this install. It was difficult to fit on but I think it will be worth the extra $5.

So THAT is the secret--keep the shower head adjusted to half flow. Thanks! Also I like the idea of the flow valve at the faucet where the other controls are.

We tried to install a shutoff valve at the faucets but it would not seal and in the process managed to ruin the connection at the faucets. After replacing the faucets (Camping World has them) I put the shutoff at the bottom of the Oxygenics itself and it works just fine.

We have had one for 5 years and swear by it. We have talked at least 8 people into buying one and they all swear by it. The flow rate may be the same as the OEM but with the increase in water velocity we use much less rinsing off and washing hair. We get several more showers in per trip with it.
I put a $2.50 shutoff on it and it sits in the original OEM holder perfectly.

Mine comes out of the wall about 6' up, and the valve is installed there.
