I haven't personally used them but I have seen them used on a custom rig that was half 5th wheel, half flat bed trailer to haul a Jeep.
They were a nice way for the owner to store muddy or dirty stuff like boots and he used them to store propane cans and all kinds of stuff he didn't want in the camper.
His came with them but we talked about them and for what they are we thought the price was pretty steep. He has 2 of the double ones and those will set you back about a grand for not all that much extra storage.

Yes we have. Twice. We ordered the under belly storage units on both of our Sandpipers. It adds more storage space to these units as they do not have the 'drop' frame. It's where I keep my power cords and various adds and ends that tend to get dirty. They don't come from the factory with the ability to be locked, but I haven't had a problem with that. The only down side that I have found is that you can't add a FULL SET of JT Strong Arm or Steadyfast stabilizers due to their location. However, you can add just the front cross pieces(which is where most of the movement comes from anyway). The storage area works for us. If we ever have another 5er without the 'drop' frame, we'll have another one.

I looked at those too, but I had issues with the curve at the bottom of our sidewall. The storage cabinets were going to stick out or wouldn't open all the way - I don't remember.

Pricey. So I declined, when offered as an option. Even if they could be bought aftermarket, Lippert won't let you drill holes to install them, unless you don't want your warranty any longer.

they are available aftermarket from Lippert (250 to 500 bucks depending upon configuration). Chatting with lippert, I was left with the distinct impression that adding items DESIGNED AND MADE BY Lippert would not void the frame warranty.
