I'm trying to find the floor joists in my fiver. Which direction do they run? What size are they? Are they on 16 or 24 inch centers or something else? I'm trying to eliminate the squeaking in the entire unit and the bedroom. If I can screw the floor to to the joists maybe it will help! Thanks for any help! My first time on the forum! Chuck

We have a squeak in our 5er list in our sig. We have had it worked on at the dealer and factory and it keeps coming back. The real problem is the tongue and grove of the decking. Once the unit is used the joints move within each other. We have tried bonding it to the joist with screws and glue but after a short time it comes back. We have learned to,live with it. As time has gone on the intensity of the squeak has lessened. Good luck trying to eliminate it.

Plywood has a tendency to squeak after it dries out. That is why builders of new homes started using OSB-no squeaks. OSB is also a cheaper product. I think plywood is stronger and is used in high end 5vers.

We had the same problem at the area just inside the bedroom door. I put a small screw jack in the basement, and added some tension. This solved the problem. I'll remove the jack when we travel, and reinstall when we set up again.

Good luck.........Skip

I have a 2007 Wildcat brochure. According to that the floor has 2"x3" trusses 12" on center. They appear to be running front to back.

The floors in my trailer are 5/8 Structure Wood, one 8 ft. wide sheet running the length of the floor -- no seams. I tore out the carpet and installed Allure flooring. During the switch I noticed the floor was only stapled, so I drove a screw alongside each staple and installed the flooring. Now I have a squeak.

Thanks for the input. I used the "squeeknomore" kit and eliminated most of the noise except over the heater vents.

A Wildcat is NOT a HIGH END 5th! At best it is mid-pack consumer.

We had a squeak in the bedroom. When the dealer looked closely the support beam was not at the joist. He ran another support beam alongside the original and no more squeak.
