Any suggestions? We are not real fussy. Usually prefer state parks or NFS. Power is nice but not an essential. Dry camping is fine. No need for satelite access. WIFI is nice but not must have either. Our 5er is 35'LOA but not being able to use rear stabilizers in short sites is not an issue either.

The big cruncher is that we don't know precisely when, & won't know till a few days before so we are non reservation travelers.

Looking at late May maybe early June. Off weekend arrival can be arranged if availability is an issue.

If you dont need hook-ups, my vote goes to Fallen Leaf (NFSCG)....they have sites that will more than handle your size rig, the location is woodsy and I believe they've added showers to their restrooms since last time I was there(a few years ago). Not sure about your time frame though but worth a check.

We've stayed at Zephyr Cove Resort. It's on the the Nevada side, about four miles north of the casinos. It has all the hookups, is not the most woodsy but it is right across the street from the lake(3-4 min. walk)It is expensive, maybe 60-70/night.

We usually stay at Fallen Leaf Lake CG. Have been there a number of times and love the area. It is our favorite CG in Tahoe. This website has pics of all the campsites. It is a very wooded campground with large sites, most have a good deal of privacy.

Another nice campground is Sugar Pine Point SP. The park is on the water and the campground is across the street. The back loop butts up against the Desolation Wilderness.

Meeks Bay is a NF campground, not as wooded as Fallen Leaf but nice.

Fallen Leaf Lake NF Campground, before school lets out in lat May probably will be open. Private Campgrounds would be Richardson's Grove, then we prefer Zephyr Cove. Tahoe Valley Campground has a pool.

There is also the city of South Lake Tahoe that has both hook ups and non hook up sites. Near Zephyr Cove is Nevada Beach Campground which is a National Forest campground on the shores of the lake. It is listed under Round Hill, NV.

We've only stayed at Zephyr Cove.....the location is great, and right accross the street is the beach with all the rental boats and cruises to take on the lake and a restaurant too. Just about 3 miles to the casinos.....we enjoyed it.

Fallen Leaf is a nice one for sure. Google South Lake Tahoe campgrounds to get the ones at the south end of the lake.

Nevada Beach is the best, but you won't get in there. It fills up as fast as Yosemite. Fallen Leaf is a really great campground with easy access to everything. You Can't fit into Meeks Bay (USFS) but there is a nice Private Campground there as well. You can't fit into D.L. Bliss, Tahoe SRA or Emerald Bay either. Sugar Pine Is pretty popular so it might be tough last minute. William Kent up north by Tahoe City is less well known but I'm not sure how your rig will fit. Many sites ares not too level.
