We're looking at a Roadtrek on a Chevrolet frame. Any feedback on that combo, problems, what to look for during the inspection?

We have a 2008 210V with almost 90,000 miles on it -- we are first owners. There have been absolutely no problems with the GM side of things... and, for that matter, very minor issues on the Roadtrek side. What is your specific concern?

Nothing specific. Had amid 80's Dodge Xplorer and had very little trouble with it. Just looking for info on this version. Thanks for the reply.

We can answer better if we know the full model designation and year.

I have a 2011 Roadtrek 190 Popular on a Chevy 3500 van chassis. No special problems. The mileage is fair with the large V8. It runs well. Like with any Class B there is a low undercarriage clearance. On inspecting a potential purchase check under the chassis for any damage, scraping, corrosion, etc. Recent articles on my site, linked below, talk about our experience driving it, parking it, and next week (Wed) the ride.

We live in an area where a Class B is rare thing to see. Chevy service here has never seen one before. This may be the case elsewhere too - or not. I am sure any other company's vehicle service center would be the same. We have not had any need to take it to them yet. When we do I am sure it will be interesting...

As is mentioned, probably the biggest complaint with the Chevies is ground clearance, especially with Roadtreks. The good news is that the parts are now available to lift them 2", which makes all the difference in the world. We have an 07 C190P with the 2" lift and love it. The Chevies are also known to handle very well compared to many other chassis.

John, you need to know that the 200V was built on a different chassis than all the Roadtrek 190's and 210's. The 190's & 210's are constructed on a Chevy Express 3500 van chassis, while the RT 200's were built on a Chevy Club Cab cut-away chassis (nothing on the chassis behind the driver). They stopped making 200's I believe in 2004. The 3500 Express van has a very long wheel base for the size of the van which results in an excellent ride, while the Club Cab has a shorter WB. Keep in mind that many of the comments about handling from 190 and 210 owners may not apply to the Roadtrek 200. The RT 200 was known for having the greatest storage capacity for any RV that Roadtrek has made.

RT & Chevy = great marriage! I have a '04 Chevy with '05 RT190P and it is superb.
Safe travels.

The early RT 200 had a reputation for rain leaks. Main culprits seem to have been reefer vents, tail lights, and (maybe) the rear window. Water leaks are maybe a bit less catastrophic in a fiberglass & steel body, but they can still cause damage. I _think_ this was cured in later models of the 200. There have been a couple of complaint by posters here about tiny bubbles under the paint in the fiberglass bodywork. Dunno if RT worked with them on repairs or not.

Both the ride and straight-line tracking are potentially less good than the 190's due to the shorter wheel base (and probably stiffer rear springs). On the plus side, they appear to sit higher than a C190, tho' I've never seen them side-by-side.
