I am taking my rv to Mexico for the first time. I have a question about rv permits to enter into and to travel in Mexico for a week. Any help will be appreciated.

Rvdusky,
Welcome to the forum.
While you are waiting for responses, you should read Turtle-Toad's excellent New and Improved Border FAQ's. If you don't find all you need there, at least you will be able to refine your questions.

We need to know where is Mexico you are going. Different areas, different rules.
Note too that your American auto insurance is NOT valid in Mexico under Mexican law. Mexican car insurance can be purchased on line (ie Lewis and Lewis) or at agencies near the border.

There is also a detailed page Here. Updated last month with new rules & possible snags. Many you will not encounter, as oftentimes things depend on individual borders & officials but pre-warned is pre-armed. Take as much documentation as you can even if you do not think you may need it.
If you are traveling for just a week, I am guessing you may not be venturingn south of the hassle free zone, so things may be easier.

We are going to San Carlos, Sonora. We will be crossing over at Nogales. I understand that I may need a permit for my motor coach and or Mexican insurance.

You do not need a vehicle permit for San Carlos, you do need insurance, however. The hassle free zone ends immediately south of San Carlos, just don't go any further south than that.

But you will require a 10 year permit for the Motorhome.

Is that true Moisheh? I understood in the hassle free zone, no permit is required.

Snow River: The border crossing requirements are very complicated. No matter where you are going on the mainland(other than Penasco) any RV will require a TIP and AFAIK you can only get a 10 year permit. The toad will not need a TIP in this area. There is no deposit required. If however you are carrying Quads or a motorcycle in your toad it will require a TIP and you must leave a deposit. How these rules will apply is anyone's guess. It appears that at Lukeville the Aduaneros know very little about these new rules as 2 RV'rs have been waved through with no TIP. If you get stopped without a permit the fines are huge.

any rv requires a TIP even in the hassle free zone. Until this year, travelling to KB or San Carlos was hassle free for both RV and truck. Now truck is hassle free but you will need a TIP (10 years) for the RV cost $49.00. Just get all your paperwork in order or you will spend about 2 hours at KM 21, going back and forth for different stuff. PM me with any questions. We are in Kino Bay right now.
