We would like to go somewhere in NJ where we can park with our fifth still hooked up to the truck, go have some dinner, come back watch a movie, wake up and head out. The one thing I would like is to be somewhere that I can look out of my window and not be in a parking lot. In NJ almost all of the campgrounds are closed for the winter and those that are open are about 50 bucks a night for electric. Would this be called boondocking? If so does anyone know any places? We are in Middletown NJ (Central/east coast)Thanks Diana

Not too sure you have many options this time of year, other than a WM or Cracker Barrel if you dont want to use a CG. Try a Delaware or PA Casino. Unfortunately, its still a parking lot, but you may park so you have a view of bordering property instead of a lined parking lot. We do it in Dover and Harrington on occasion. Delaware Park allows RV overnighting also. Great buffets, entertainment, people watching, and having the option to lose money We are stubborn and wont let the fact of closed CG's or winter to stop us from Rving, And its FUN.

Don't like the view?? Then change it and Go CampingOur pics

DW and I went to Allaire State Park last week to hike some of the trails. We walked through the campground and were surprised to see that one of the site posts had a paper on it with a January 10th departure date. As we were leaving, the Park police drove by and told us that the campground is open all year.

No hookups there, but you would probably have the entire campground to yourselves at this time of year.

I did not know that about Allaire. We frequent Turkey Swamp county park but they close for the winter. I will look into Allaire. Thank you

Clouddriver, I just went on the NJ state park website to make my reservation. Well, our dear state of NJ does not allow dogs in many of our state parks. There are five that will make "pet friendly" sites available to you for a fee! It is only 5 dollars, but really?

Sorry, I didn't know about the "no pet" rule.

I don't know if you are talking about camping or just driving to someplace and hangout for awhile, then leave. If it's the latter,Stone Harbor,NJ has a place where I have seen some RV's parked. If you come into Stone Harbor over the bridge,go to the main drag and turn right.
Go to the end of the street where they have a wildlife refuge. There is a parking lot where I have seen some small motorhomes stay for the day.But before you pull into the lot,I have also seen RV's parked along the street.I'm sure you can't stay overnight, but if you came in early in the morning, parked, then walk the beach, get something to eat, take a nap and ride your bicyles into town. SH has some nice restaraunts and stores and a small museum.
