I have a 1994 Monaco Dynasty. I have had it since new. It has the heart inverter/charger. When I turn the battery cutoff off when I am dry camping, the remote shows 130 amps being used. Naturally I turn it off right away. When I am using shore power it does not do it. I checked the solinoid and it seems to be working. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Larry

Hi,
Inverters of any size (and 130 amps indicates a large unit) are most often wired directly to the battery bank--the cut off switch does not disconnect the inverter.

I have check everything that I could think of the might be on. The first thing that I checked was the water heater. If it was on when the battery disconnect is on it would show that high amp. I think I will try to turn off the electric side of the water heater and see if that will help. If I am thinking right when the house batteries are on it would show a high amp when there is a high draw, but when you turn the disconnect off it should cut off the supply to the inverter, right? Anyway I am on the road and we dry camp 99% of the time, and I will try to fiqure it out, but all your help would be appreciated. Thanks Larry

Hi larmcintsh,
No the inverter doesn't get disconnected when the disconnect switch to the battery bank is used.

But why does it go to 130 amps when I do turn off the disconnect? I have been in your part of the country, very nice. Larry

Are you saying it is 0 amps and then just as you shut off the battery disconnect the amps jump up to 130 amps?
Otherwise the inverter 12v connection is not routed through the battery switch. Turning off the battery switch does not disconnect the inverter. The two systems have separate connections to the battery.

Does refrigerator show to be on LP when this is going on? If not,the auto change over might be malfunctioning.
You didn't say if the battery gos down. If not, your remote meter is bad.
