You should have and use an "Antenna UP" sign. Attach to the driver's control some where.
I would not carry any spare parts as most RV parts store carry the parts for Winegards.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't want to deal the the antenna this morning right after it flew apart. Just took a little time this afternoon to study it and all's good again. The set screw in the plastic handle doesn't look too strong.

Can anyone recommend which parts should be carried for this antenna? Any common parts that break often? Thanks.

I carry a spare handle as they will eventually crack. It is a cheap and small item to keep on the bus that will come in quite handy to allow you to make a quick and permanent repair when you are miles from the nearest RV store. Like anything else, everyone has a different opinion.

Happened to me as well.. The procedure I figured out is described above by Mr. Wizard (Though I figured it out the hard way)

I did note there is a "plug" covering access to the set screw.

NOTE: if the handle actually broke.. Replacements at any RV store.

Hi All.

I have only had that happen to us one time in the 45 years as RV'ers. Here is what I came up with for a "Permante Fix". Put everything back together as it should be. But take out the Allen Screw in the Crank Handle. Push up on all the rest of the antenna handle stuff, and mark the spot where the Allen Screw hits the shaft. Remove all the items, and drill a small indentation on the shaft. Re-install all the parts with the Allen Screw in place. Tighten the Allen Screw. It will never come undone again. I have done this to all of the RV's wer have owned over years, and not one has ever come undone. Its a quick and simple fix. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
