Ego boost.

Yup, that's pretty much sums it all up.

Wait 5 years of real world testing, and see how that Ego Boost holds up.

Just wondering how long was it before the 6.0 started showing problems and to what extent? So far the EB has been in other vehicles for 2+ yrs and seems to be doing fine. Towing with one may create more problems than normal driving though, I guess time will.

F-150's seem to be all the rage for tow vehicles, based on a few that are actually F-250's with F-150 emblems. I am sure you will hear from them soon. Only a very small percent of F-150's are made this way, just enough for braggin rights. I have never seen one of these Super Duty F-150's on a dealer's lot and I spend way too much time looking at pickups.

Gettin' to see plenty of them up our way - they put the badge for it right down in the same spot as my Power Stroke emblem. Can't hardly stop at a traffic light without being surrounded by F150's.

F150 - the truck for people who think they want a real truck, but don't want that nasty, noisy diesel stuff, or a truck that too hard to get into, or that will fit in the garage, and it got to get as good gas mileage as a prius. Yep, EGO Boost

They are the new "minivan". The x-gens are getting older and they need to fix up their parents basments that they've been living in for the past 35 years. So they need a truck to carry that heavy load of 10 sheets of drywall and a box of nails. These look like a truck.

I couldn't pull the mountains in AZ with my V10. Lots of luck with that.

The Eco boost will tow the mtns as well as a turbo diesel, because the eco boost has a turbo/super charger to make sure the air amout in the fuel is dense enough. IE to have full sea level HP. The older non turbo diesels were pretty pathetic at elevation also! All non turbo/supercharged motors lose 2-3% of HP per 1000' above sea level you are, so at 10K', your down 20-30%, even 5K' you are down 10-15%, noticeable if you have a load behind you!

Bull. A v10 will pull mountains fine. If you need to downshift and let it wind up for longer grades...fine, it wont hurt anything.

So your saying that you think a Eco Boost will pull a heavy load load up the mountains just as well as a 6.7 Cummins, Powerstroke or a 6.6 D-Max????? I really think the Eco is a fantastic engine but for heavy towing I do not it performs as well as a large diesel nor do I think it was designed to.

As much as I think the EB is a good engine, theres no way an F150 with only 420lbs Tq is going to pull like a diesel with 750-800lbs of tq. Now as far a losing power in the mtns, ya it should maintain most of it available power like a diesel. Maybe thats what you ment to say.

It will depend what year truck your talking. The Eco boost starts making pretty good torque way down at 1700 rpm and keeps building horsepower all the way up to about 5000 rpm. If you're comparing an 07 or earlier Diesel to the new Eco Boost and wonder which truck will pull an 8500 lb trailer to the top of the mountain first - it's going to be the Eco Boost.
