I'm looking to tow my 8500 lb fifth wheel with a new Ford F150 4WD. With the V6 Ego Boost Engine. Does any one tow with this vehicle and engine. Ford info said I could do this, as I will not be towing full time only part time. I live in Colorado and some time tow into the mountains. I now drive a 6 L superduty and I'm looking to increase my mileage, when I'm not towing.

I think you mean ECO BOOST.

The 8500lbs parts will be fine for the ecoboost but you need to pay really close attention to the pin weight and payload, this will kill any 1/2 ton. Also pay attention to the frontal area.

So we have egoboost vs ecoboost, towing a 5th wheel with a half ton, and mpg of the ecoboost gas vs mpg of the 6.0 diesel. All in the OP's 1st ever post! Sounds fishy
If not, welcome! And congrats for hitting 3 controversial topics in your first post 
The ecoboost would be a good choice for towing in the mountains, it would suffer much less power loss than a N/A gas engine. Biggest problem with the 5th is pin weight, you will have to be sure you get a max payload package. As far as unloaded mpg, that is in your right foot as much as anything.

Fuel mileage reports especially towing have been less than stellar

Whats the actual GVW of the 5th wheel. I have to ask like others, your going to drop from a 6L Superduty to go with the 1/2 ton truck? I'd stay with the Superduty, unless GVW of the 5er is actually 8500#...believe you would only come out ahead when not towing with the F150.
