This is an excellent solution . I have heard first hand from techs at Verizon that direct connect amplifiers work great with the Home connect unit. The antenna connection on the back of the Home Connect unit is a TNC female . So just make sure that the connector cable to your antenna or external antenna has a TNC male connector.

but if you used some thing like Verizon "home connect" cell device (which uses residential phones)
you could place it in the box connected to a residential cordless phone and carry the cordless around the property
If you have little to no cell phone signal the Verizon Home Connect would be useless, its not an amp.
maybe I wasn't clear
connect the home connect to the amplifier/booster
then connect the residential phone
no worries about antenna seperation, you carry the residential cordless not your regular cell phone
could also attached an external pa ringer horn/speaker so that you would be alerted to an icomming call by audio tone even if the cordless was to far from the base station
power Max 10,000 square ft of coverage, that equals a square 100fton each side
I think the property involved is much larger than that

How is this an excellent solution? He has an acre to cover, not going to happen with a Verizon Home Connect.
I hope the OP does his own research and does not rely on the armchair experts.
The home connect with the EnGenius connected . It says the EnGenius covers up to 3000 acres Makes sense to me . And probably a lot less than expensive than a cellular amplification system . Which would be very expensive to cover that much area. By the way , not an armchair expert . actually know the subject very well . Looking to help the OP find the most cost effective solution without emptying out his bank account.

Ok, so now you're adding equipment not mentioned.....

Im sure if you keep adding equipment you will find something that works.
The durafon has been around a long time and are probably still over $500, now he has to port a number to the Verizon Home connect, buy it for about $150 I think, and pay $20 bucks a month to use it.
Well my math still shows it is still a lot cheaper than an $1100 cellular amplifier system that still would not cover the area he wishes to cover . Just voicing my humble opinion on a solution that was offered by someone else that seemed logical and economical. It would also be a heck of a lot easier to install and maintain.

home connect is simply a cellular device that you connect ANY hard wired OR cordless BASE phone into
it is not a router, you do not use your cell phone, the Home Connect has its own cell phone number,
the amplifier and directional antenna supply the signal to the Home connect
the home connect could be connected to an office desk phone, a princess phone, an all one you bought at Home depot, an old wall phone, it would not make any difference
just plug in a std cordless base (just like you would at home) and carry the cordless around the property
of course you need one with good range
Options, always have options, and the journey goes much smoother ....
Connected thru Verizon with HotSopt WiFi using a Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Member of the Verizon Wireless Customer Council
I BOUGHTthis phone
