Why do people think distance make some sort of difference? I just do not understand this philosophy! It makes ZERO difference how far you plan to tow. You can pull out of your driveway and get in an accident because you cannot stop safely. On the highway you can get an in accident five miles from home if the combinations is unsafe.and a truck passes you causing you to loose control. GEEZE fella. Wake up will you. This is NOT a good combination.

I totally agree. Not enough truck by a long shot.

Towed the unit in my signature which is ligher than what you are considering. It was OK but definately not a great combo. Once I upgraded to the f150 I understood immediately how big a difference it made.

This was a far better combo for the taco...

It sounds like you have your mind made up on this matter already so I'm not sure what you are hoping to gain from this thread - confidence in a poor decision?

I'm sure your Taco will get the unit going down the road but I'd be concerned what happens the first time you have to make an emergency maneuver. Even on a short, flat road at slow speeds s&#t happens. If you've never been in a rig that was being pushed around its attached trailer let me tell you it isn't a fun experience.

Best of luck to you and your decision.

I will never understand why people bother to ask if they are not going to listen to the answer.

GVWR on the trailer is 6500 lb. You are not likely to exceed that weight unless you really work at it given the dry weight of 4565 pounds. That will not violate the towing restrictions, but the tongue weight almost certainly will. The dry tongue weight is listed at 550 pounds. By the time you simply fill the propane bottles and mount a good sized battery, you are going to be at over 650 pounds. Now, fill the tank with water and the tongue weight will rise to possibly 750-800 pounds. At this point, you haven't put any equipment, groceries or anything else in it. After you do that, the tongue weight could be 850 or more. I haven't checked, but I'm guessing your hitch weight restriction is 600 pounds or so. You need to check that out. A WD hitch won't change that restriction.

Beyond specifications, there is the issue of acceleration and hill climbing ability. I pull a 21 foot, 4,400 pound (measured) trailer with a 2011 Nisan Frontier, which is very similar to your tow vehicle. It is specified to tow 6500 pounds with a hitch weight of 650 pounds. It does a pretty good job, but I would not want to pull a trailer any heavier than what I have. I doubt very much you could maintain the speed limit going up even a slight incline. The truck would probably survive the experience and you would get there safely but it will be a very frustrating experience. If you are really serious about this, try it first before you buy.

i only see the one positive post that differs from what the others say. even the one that says it could be done, states you won't like it. the rest are against your combo.
so, not really seeing that much in different advice.

if you choose to go with this combo, please help yourself out by getting a good WDH with sway control and a good brake controller.

SORRY I would not do it, if you do you will either lose a motor, tranny, or upgrade your truck. Been their done that. I know you want the RV you just dont have enough truck. We all want you to get the RV that fits your needs but it needs to have a better matched truck. JMHO
