Sitting here inside the fifth wheel about an hour ago and heard a very loud noise like someone striking a piece of steel with an aluminum bat (very loud) in the area of the slide-out. Trailer did not shake or vibrate. No indication outside or on top that something struck the rv. Area secure from pranksters. Checked propane bottles, water heater, batteries, suspension, tires and moved the slide-out in about 6 inches to make sure it was working. Everything appears to be ok. CO2 cannister in life jacket and bear spray (under couch)appear to be intact. Neighbors heard nothing. Any thoughts as to what may have happened? I would hate to find out the problem going down the road.

That is peculiar, nothing to offer for a solution though. Possibly just expansion/contraction of the metal?

Hopefully it was something so simple as a bird flying into then away from the 5'ver.

Worst case would be some sort of structual piece suffering a break while under load. Maybe prior to departure you should run the slide in and out to make sure there are no issues that you will have to deal with.

If you have an Accu-Slide Bedroom slide I'd go outside and look at all 4 cables.

I'm with SCClockDr. if your slide uses cables that's the 1st place I'd look.

Weh get "Banged" on often.. Squirrels tossing nuts down.

Could also have been something flying through the air striking something where it did no NOTICALBE damage, Stone from Lawn mower v/s solid metal bar on RV, Kid with rock, that kind of thing.
