I had my Mallard 18CK for 3 trouble-free years. Only traded recently as I wanted a TH to drag my cruiser around with. Also the additional interior space and beds will be handy 8-10-15 years down the road if I can keep the trailer together that long.

We had our last TT 10 years with no problems until last summer when low voltage took out the Ref, heater, A/C . I told the DW maybe its time to buy another late model TT. Sold the old one to the first guy who looked at it for $9K. I have been looking since Aug but I have not found one that had the room the old 34 ft had with the front kitchen. I do the dishes and like to look out the front window and seems like the new ones all have the bed room in front

We will have this trailer for 10 years in July. No plans to trade it in on anything else. Now that the youngest of the boys is now 20, the DW uses the rear bunk area as a private dressing room. Course that will end once grand kids come into the picture some day!!

I keep vehicles a long time and my main criteria for replacing one is whether it still does the job I want well without excessive repairs. Wanting something new is pretty low on my list of priorities. I’ve heard a vehicle loses half its value in the first five years but I haven’t bothered to check that. A quick look shows my own personal vehicles seem to run six to seven years. Except for my ’73 Bronco which is worth four times what I paid for it new. But depreciation is often the largest single cost of a vehicle and while it’s not primary to my decision I pay attention to it and usually keep vehicles a long time which knocks that cost way down. So my 22 year old TT, my 10 year old TV, my 8 year old car. And my 23 year old PU I gave to a son some years ago.

We bought ours in March of 1994 but I did have a popup TC for 9 months last year and I've been looking at 5ers.

every time our circumstances change, we changed rigs to meet the new demands. Depreciation has never been a concern. If we needed seperate beds for kids, it was time to change models. If we wanted hard sides vs canvas so we could camp spring/fall, we changed. The same with our tow vehicle. I read some very convincing arguements on here to plan for your next trailer first, and then get the right truck. Next rig will be when the kids no longer camp with us routinely (and that will be a very SAD day).

We bought our first TT three years ago, and still have it. It's a '92 Terry 18D, and it's been to Santa Fe, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and various other shorter trips. We've done so much work on it that I can't part with it because it's in tiptop shape now. New water heater, new AC unit, new tires, added a battery, removed and recaulked all windows, etc. It's paid for, everything works, and though it's getting smaller as we add dogs to our family and our son grows, we'll manage for at least another 2 or 3 years...hopefully.

We kept our previous rv (5th wheel) for 6 years; our current motorhome I intend to keep for 10 years then we revisit our needs.
