Just wondering how long most people keep their trailers and why. We have had ours 2 years and dont plan to sell any time soon. Just curious when the most depriciation occurs...other then driving it off the lot.

Let me give you a tip....
Do not worry about depriciation!

The units will last way longer than the price.

Had our Jayco Eagle 215SD for 18 years, never traded since didn't need more room. However, we feel that a little more room is needed now, hopefully will be traveling a bit more, so moved up to a Jayco Eagle SuperLite HT 26.5 RLS. Will be picking it up in the next couple of weeks and we'll see how it tows and looks when we get it home.

I don't worry about depreciation either. I keep mine until they are at least ten years old, the one I have now, I may keep longer than that if it continues to hold out well.

When I am ready for a new one, I just sell the old one for whatever I can get out of it and use it for the down payment.

I've had mine since I bought it new in July 2002. It's a 2003 model year trailer.. I've done a lot of 'customizing' to mine, so it might not appeal to others, but works great for us!

No plans on getting a new one unless we lose this one for whatever reason or we win the Lotto!

For the past 3 years it has been 1 new trailer per year. Let me explain.
1st trailer got severely damaged in a storm plus had preexisting water damage.
2nd trailer we purchased because of its light weight and we had a small 3/4 ton truck. Quickly came to dislike the lack of interior doors and other weight saving features.
3rd trailer should be here in 3 weeks. We plan on it being a keeper.

Sure it would be nice to go larger for additional space, or smaller so we could get better MPG an get into tighter, more secluded sites. But at this point, our 4 year old, 32' TT is providing all we need, plus the new models we've seen at the RV show didn't make us think we were missing out on anything. I expect a few more years of service out of our current rig and then we'll see which way (larger or smaller) we go. As for depreciation, I'm not overly concerned as it's a losing situation no matter how you slice it.

First tt bought in 2004, it was nice (Keystone Outback) about 27 feet traded it in 1 year to the day. We just had our third child and wanted a door to our bedroom and a bunk room in back. We got another Keystone (Cougar) 32 feet long and alot more room, really nice tt, it was the model 304bhs. Soon after the Cougar I bought a 2005 Chevy dually, diesel and the wife knew I was up to it again. One year later a fifth wheel(2006 Cardinal)and no plans to get rid of it. I've had it 6 years and really like some of the new ones but when u trade u lose, no more for me. If I did it all over again probably would have kept the Cougar, it was a very nice tt. I do love my fifth wheel though!
