I posted yesterday about levelers not responding in rear and then not at all. I was following all the operational requirements as they had worked for a month after I had a low voltage problem that cleared up by the time I got to a dealer. Coach net was virtually no help. They gave me info that I could have found on dealers by making a few calls. They made the calls and basically told me no one could help. I did learn the reset is to hold all the buttons-front rear, side to side for 30 seconds and wait for the beep. No beep for me. I then started to study the system. Found the controller-no computer- and crawled under and started checking wires. I pushed everything so it was totally secure. One connection was a tiny bit not totally clicked but I doubt the problem. Then came the red ground. I could move it on the bolt easily. I tightened and cleaned. I suspect dirt got inbetween the connection and over time a bit more and more until the connection was very weak and as a result not enough to provide the voltage necessary to respond to the connection required. I then went back inside. Started things up and voila it all is working. I will tighten it even better when the jacks are retracted and I can go back underneath. For now I am perfectly level by hand level and the green light. Very frustrating that roadside service does not mean that. I would have had to break camp and drive 40 miles down the 405 in LA to get service had the name I was given actually called me back. I do feel a bit more self sufficient.

Nice to hear you figured it out. It gives me hope and will inspire me the next time I face a challenge.

Roadside assistance is for mechanical.
I guess they don't consider that fact if the jacks don't come up you are not moving.
Interesting thought, but that would (in my simple mind) qualify for a tow.

Another reason why yearly maintenance should include tightening every nut, bolt and screw you can find....never seen a study done, but it would be interesting to find out how many "issues" were fixed simply by tightening up a ground screw.....glad you fixed it yourself...doesn't self sufficiency feel good.... ....Dennis

Excuse me, but Coachnet is EMERGENCY BREAKDOWN road service coverage. Because your levelers would not retract in a campground is not really an emergency road service situation.

If they do not retract and you can not move your motor home, do you not consider that a mechanical problem?

We have Good Sam Roadside Assistance and I just called them and they said that would be covered as it makes the motor home unusable and would be considered a minor mechanical repair which could be done onsite and as such would be covered with their Roadside Assistance.

Thanks for that KaRon. I also have Good Sam. My Power Gear system is part of the motorhome. I was able to retract and from what I gather they would provide the service if I couldn't move. I was willing to pay for service in the campground if they would have arranged it. Bottom line is they gave me the name and telephone number of an RV dealer and the person to speak with and I got no response from the message I left. Nice pleasant people and virtually no help. Next time, hoping there isn't I will contact Good Sam. Dennis I agree on the screws and nuts to be tightened. This is a new coach with very little use and in its first six months. Self-sufficiency does feel very good. Love that picture Holstein. Looks like a good outfit to crawl under the RV while wearing. Boy am I glad to have my Kelderman on these California roads. Riding like a Prevost.

As long as I am at it let me express what I want with Roadside Assistance. I want assistance. I want them to provide my options. If you are broken down we will send help-engine problems, jacks stuck down, slides out etc. If you have a problem but can get to a service center here is the closest center and they will be waiting to help because the assistance has a relationship that gives priority. Also if you want on site here are the preferred services and we will arrange for them to come to your site quickly or have them contact you to schedule and cost is on the customer. That is real assistance. I did not get that and therefore would not purchase it after my one year runs out. I will stay with AAA and Good Sam. Next time I try Good Sam and trial and error til I get what I want. As I said I hope i never find out which is best. These people were very nice and friendly, just not helpful. They tried but seemed to be limited.
