You muust have stayed at a different Ocean Lakes than I did. We stayed there last year, Oceanfront. sites are tiny. Barely enough room to sit the camper on, and park the TV. Apache's sites as actually larger. OL's best quality, is their bath houses. Very nice.

Yes Apache is old, and the bath houses dated. Sites pretty small, but no smaller than the Ocean Lakes sites. and last time we were there. Security was a joke. That's the bad.

Now the good. Apache is easy to get too, you come off 22 right onto the road it is on. It is in N Myrtle, Close to restaurant Row, and Barefoot Landing. Apache also has the widest beach, Dune to ocean, of any Myrtle Beach Campground. Also. From the oceanfront sites. You can actually see the beach, and ocean. No other CGs offer that view.
We would stay there again. but it is not our first choice. It would come up on the list, however, IF they would fix up the bath houses.

BTW. they do give you pier walking passes.

I can vouch for this opinion.

Here is a crappy cell phone pic taken from the steps of my rig:

Guess we are at the Ocean Lakes that is different from the one others have stayed at.
As always we can see the beach and ocean from our large ocean front site.
Large enough for a 45' fiver and toter and an additional dually, all on concrete, grass between the sites, palm tree and room for the golf car. All within 50' to beach via walkway.
This is the best. Complete on site facilities, close to everything and reasonalble rates......

Obvious, I am a fan of Ocean Lakes. Regarding size of sites, Ocean Lakes does have choices. These VERY large sites are located in the HH section. As you can see by the photo, there is plenty of room even for the 40' + rigs.

Don't like the view?? Then change it and Go CampingOur pics

This is a very good example of my point the pics dont lie OCEAN LAKES has large sites and APACHE dont. look at the earlier pics of apache and you can clearly see the difference.

If you look at the Apache picture, view the trailers on the left. This is typical at Apache. The few large sites are almost always taken. The ones that are open are packed in so tight, you can't let out your awning or slide all the way. I understand a need to make money, but the sites are on the borderline of dangerous. Campers on the opposite row will have to move, so you can get in and out with a 20-30ft camper. It's just not worth the hassle. There are much better places to camp. If you are camping now, try the state park. The sites are much larger and you can have a campfire. Most of the others including Apache will not allow it if my memory serves me right. The only other one besides Apache that I give a thumbs down is KOA. It's across the street from the ocean.

We drove through Apache. We won't be staying there. As others mentioned, the sites seemed very tight. I didn't like the dirt road at the sites near the ocean. The pool was very small. As others mentioned, it is very dated. We prefeer the south side of Myrtle Beach. The closer to the fine seafood dining of Murrels Inlet, the better for us!

Just not true. OL has very large sites and all the awnings face the ocean. If you look at the campers on the left at Apache their awnings face opposite the ocean

OL has concrete pads on tons of sites. No other CG offers this and to me makes OL heads and shoulders above all the others. Granted I wish OL was located where MBTP is as I like the easy access to this CG and the northern part of MB due to size of beach. To me the small beach and getting to OL are its two biggest drawbacks.
