No Texan I'm not anti gun. As a matter of fact I have qualified as expert on the range with several weapons. I have NEVER notified a moderator. Your perception is misconceived.

How much ammo can you carry? All depends on your payload capacity
So how big of an ammo fort are we talking about here?

Drug smugglers are arrested daily. Thankfully, people just moving their possessions, including ammo, have nothing to worry about. Enjoy a smooth move.

Sounds like an RV issue to me. Some of us have RV’s that are too light on one side, or maybe front to back. Lead makes a wonderful solution, LOL.

Go to your local Military suplus store, purchase surplus ammo boxes, pack your ammo, with the original boxes, that the ammo comes with.
Make an inventory list, store ammo boxes, in a secure area of the RV, this means, that if you happen to be in an axccident, the ammo is not compromised.
Have the inventory list, in a separate vehicle, or accesible, so if something happens, you can notiffy, the first responders, in case there is a fire!
As to the ammount that you can transport, that I can not answer, but you will probablly not have any trouble.
If stopped by law enforsment, let them know that you have ammo, but no weappos, and that the ammo is in containers, rather than scattered arround.
Let them know where the ammo is located, if you can have the ammo boxes swedeged, with a steel band, then you have a secure ammo carrier.
Have good trip, Navegator

If it's YOUR ammunition, and it's being transported by you, I know of no regulations that would prohibit you from doing so. I strongly suspect that there may be some municipalities you pass through (like Chicago, Jersey, or New York City) that may have local ordinances and laws prohibiting such things. (I know Chicago won't allow you to bring a firearm within city limits until it's been registered with the chief of police) That being said, and again if my memory serves, there was some legislation in the last couple of years at the federal level that specifically allows you to transport through en route to your destination... But that means no stopping for gas, no breakdowns, no lunch stops, not even a potty break in those municipalities.
But like I said, generally speaking, there should be no issue with it outside those few specific areas that specifically prohibit it.

You are not a commercial carrier. You can transport any legal goods you own. Your moving company cannot even transport your propane tanks.
You are not going to have any issues with Oregon.

Thanks to all that responded. The moving company can take the guns and the safe, as long as they remain in the safe, and we provide them the serial numbers.
We will need to camp overnight along the way, so I wanted to know if there were any legal issues regarding personal transportation of ammo. My dad was an avid collector of guns and handed down quite a bit of ammunition along with the guns. I did catlog and count up the rounds the other day, and it was, in my mind, substantial. I'll continue to research the issue including checking with the NRA.
Thanks again, as usual you've been very helpful.

I carry ammo in my fifth wheel all the time.
Don
Is that an option from the factory or standard equipment?
