We will be pulling a trailer with a small car on it behind our Thor 21C. Any suggestions on a the type of rock/splash guard to use? There are a lot of styles/materials the market and I don't have the experience to weigh the pro's and con's.

On a trailer you probably don't need anything.

We have towed a Jeep behind our class A with just the standard/factory mud flaps behind the class A's rear wheels, not s single chip on the Jeep after thousands of miles. And with your towed vehicle up on a trailer it should be extra safe from chips.

The trailer will probably lift it high enough to not worry about a guard.

4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

We carry a scooter on the back of our motorhome and thought a splash guard would help reduce the spray and dirt that collects on the scooter and back of the motorhome. A few people responded that the splash guard occasionally touched the pavement and caused debris to scatter. They did not feel it added protection.

It may be a matter of getting it high enough that it does not scatter debris, but low enough to provide some protection. We decided not to get one. Probably would reduce gas mileage a tiny bit as well ;-).

We've towed a Chevy minivan and a Scion cross country several times each on a tow dolly with no stone damage and only have the original mudguards behind each of the rear wehhels of the motor home.
The Scion ended up with many little marks on it by the time we got rid of it, and I think they may have been caused by blowing sand because we did travel in some windy conditions a couple of times.
