Will be traveling from MB to Harriman, Tn the last week of Aug 2012. Driving a 40ft DP and towing a Jeep Wrangler. Any suggestions for a good route and fuel stops along the way???

501/76/301 to near Florence. Right on 327 to I-95.
On 327 just before you get on I-95 is a good fuel stop.
I-95 to I-20
I-20 to I-26 in Columbia, SC
There is a Flying J just before you enter Columbia.
I-26 to I-40 near Asheville, NC.
Good fuel stop at exit 52 on I-26.
Or...fill up at exits 17 or 5 on I-26 in SC.
I-40 to Harriman.
There is a Flying J on I-40/75 on the west side of Knoxville.

What he said. We do the opposite route frequently. The rockslide on I-40 just inside TN from Asheville, NC has been cleaned up. Of course, there may be another one by the time you come up, in which case you will be routed all the way up I-26 through Johnson City, TN to hit I-81 west till it hits I-40. Both routes from Asheville are through spectacular scenery.

I would fill up either before NC or after, as taxes make the price alot higher there.

I need to copy this and send to our legislature as they recently took no action and allowed our per gallon tax to increase b almost 4 cents per gallon.

You got that right. Our fuel taxes are just plain stupid.

Thanks guys. I understand what you mean about gas taxes. Our foolish governor in Maryland is proposing a 6% gas tax on top of what are among the already highest fuel prices in the nation. Avoid fueling in Maryland at all costs ..... Nice place to visit but don't shop for fuel here.
