I just purchased a layton retro 20 footer. I think I qualify as a small trailer, Even though my truck is huge. Does anyone know of any gatherings of smaller trailer owners?

Welcome to the Forum Mike! You didn't say what year trailer you have. More info and maybe we can point you in the right direction! There are several vintage trailer clubs online if you've got an oldie but goodie!

Good Move Mike,
Count me in as a guy who much prefers a big truck towing a small trailer. Duramax 7300 # extracab towing a 5300 # 21T Komfort.
This works way better than the other way around.

Welcome Mike! To answer your question,. "No" all trailer groups have a minimum size of 21 foot! They won't let you in, I am sorry!

Mike!!! Great news all trailer clubs have agreed to take you! I joke because the good Sam's group I belong too have all sizes of trailers and we all share a love for RV trips. Go on line and find a group near you. Lots of fun and some great people! Just use your rig, I have friends that have trailers and don't use them' what a waste. Have fun!!!

Got any pics of that baby? I think 20' is a great size, and bonus to have a big truck that can tow it with ease.

Our TT is your TT's baby brother (see signature). We like the little retro - not flashy, but practical.

I looked at the Retro when we where purchasing. Great price for starting out. I am with you in the trailer department. While I only have a 1/2 ton, I tow a crossover 189Q at about 19 ft bow to stern 3800 GVWR. Often feel more connected to the Hybrid forum as compared to the 30 footers with tripple slides. I like that I can drive 400 miles between gas stops in search of that better price.

I like the side mounted air conditioners. I have no idea why they put this monster 13,500 btu on the roof of my little trailer. Maybe someday I will remove it.

Or, maybe some day you will need it. After a few years the insulation will settle, there might be a few air leaks, and it will take all 13,500 BTU to cool effectively (that is my experience anyway, with the old 1976 Prowler TT baking on the Texas coast in summer). I'm hoping that my little side-mount AC in the new TT can keep up after the TT gets a little age on it.
