Service man just left after replacing the first recalled black box on the coil. He said Norcold told him that the old box was noise sensitive. This is not a recall, just when this first box fails.
Here is what I done to set it off.
I unplugged from the pedestal and started the gen-set, after it started the alarm on the ref. was going off and I was getting a
Li-op code. At first the service man said that what I done didn't cause the box failure but after talking to Norcold they said it could have been. Norcold also stated that the new box has a build in 1 minute timer to keep this from happening again.
Hope this helps.

Well, call me foolish or whatever, but the new Amish 1200 cooling unit is in shipment to me now. I just bought our coach about a month ago and Norcold shows that the recall was done. Trouble is, the black box is GONE! Norcold is paying for another one to be installed next week and when I change the cooling unit I will install it on the Amish unit as an added safety feature. If it quits I will just bypass it and throw it away! I ordered the one with new heating elements and fans just because the old ones are 10 years old and I figure that's about the life of them. I hated to spend $1200 but it will sure make me sleep better at night! To each his own.....

Joe that is about the only smart option left in your case. You know the risks and that the cooling unit's death is due anytime.

We really like our Amish remanufactured cooling unit for our 600 series that we replaced in 2010. We turned it on for the first time in about 6 months. While it was only 65F outside it was good to go in both boxes in about four hours.

Joe & Annette,

Not sure if you watched our YouTube video (updated) or not but we did exactly like you. We ordered the Amish unit with New elements, fans, and fan Switch. We are VERY happy with our choice and the new cooling unit! Check out our video for help with the install and to see the Charring and heat damage we had from the old OEM cooling unit:
