Hey all - looking to trip down the Oregon coast this summer and need advice sorting where to stay. We have a 30'TT and tend to like State Parks that are more private, less hectic. Any thoughts on or pics from those who have done this? traveling from BC. Thanks.

you should look up the Oregon state park web site. some of the sites, or should I say most of the sites are size limited.

You can't really go wrong with any of the Oregon State Parks on the Coast. We have stayed at all of them a number of times. Start with Ft. Stevens State Park (try to get a site in the upper loops) and go from there. We have a our favorite sites at each park so we do make reservations for summer trips. We often see the "Park Full" sign, especially on weekends July and August.
30 ft. TT should be no problem...ours is 31'.

Starting at Ft Stevens simply pick a park about 50-60 miles farther south and stop there. Don't plan to move more than that or you will miss what the coast has to offer. Be sure to make your reservations early as they tend to fill up fast during the simmer months.

Oregon State Parks are the bargain in the whole of the lower 48.
Less than 20 % of the parks are mediocre. The rest are fantastic.
We prefer Newport Oregon South.
Oregon State Parks has a comprehensive website.
South Beach, Tugman, Bullards, Harris Beach are favorites.
Heck, they're all good.

Oregon coast is dynamite! Suggestion, make your reservations as soon as possible all
the way down the coast of you want an enjoyable trip. You can always change or cancel . RVing in the summer is packed in private RV parks but especially in Oregon state parks. I have been RVing the Oregon coast for 10 years.

Circle Creek RV park in Seaside is a great park with full hook ups, laundry, close to good food near by and clam chowder at Mo's in Cannyon Beach.

x2, being Oregionians, we've always liked the state parks, now retired and doing more traveling, are realizing what great parks Oregon has. be forwarned though, many of the coastal parks fill up at least on weekends during the summer, so now is the time to at least make weekend reservations.
And if your going down the coast, you may want to consider a stop at Cape Disapointment state park in washington. It's another fabulous park with lots of nearby things to do. I like the layout better than Ft. stevens, small loops giving a more private setting rather than large loops. Still a BIG campground, with a "small" feeling. And you can get some sites that back up to the Ocean beach. However, unlike many of the oregon parks that are predominently full ( or at least water/electric) hookups, cape disapointment is mostly no hookup sites. great for a few nights.
In Oregon Ft. Stevens is a favorite for many, but there are other equally good parks. Hard to find a bad one down the coast, and the coastal and willamette valley parks on I-5 have many many sites capable of handling a 35' trailer.

We love to stay at South Beach St. Park in Newport. Makes a great base for visiting a lot of the central Oregon coast area. I also ditto what others have said about Oregon's State Parks being wonderful - you will enjoy them!
