This past Fall as we were leveling our unit the Lynx Levelers cracked apart and broke to the point of unusability. They were about 10 years old, new in the bag and left over from our trailering days. We had them stepped so the "crawl" was gentle and on level dirt, but the front stack went bust.

My questions are: Were the levelers too light for our Class C? Did age cause them to become brittle? Was our stacking incorrect? Is it worthwhile to buy a new set hoping they will be fresher/stronger? Are they available in heavier plastic?

I like the compactness and light weight, but durability is needed too.

Thanks

We have had ours for over 15 years and for 9 they were used constantly. We had a few break due to unstable ground. The rest are still in use.

Your C was not too heavy for them. I use them on my Class A which is probably somewhat heavier than your C.
The ones I have are several years old and are still working okay. I break some from time to time due to rocks and soft or uneven ground. Just the cost of doing business. I buy a replacement bag every few years.

I find they eventually crack with age & use. I think the plastic just dries out. I like the new ramp style risers from Camping World. Don't like the price, but that's CW. Really not too bad if you catch them on sale. Probably other stores have them also.

if I were you I would call up the company and ask them, who know they might even replace the set free of charge. doesn't hurt to ask, all they can say is no. I know there have been products I have been unhappy with and the company have sent me coupons or replacements.

I have some that are over 15 y/o and got them for our 27' TT that we had at the time and I now have three sets,a 40' Class A DP and still use all of them and have no problem. And yes, they will break if they aren't supported or have a rock under a side.I have now gone to wood blocks for the DP and will probably be taking the plastic ones out.I am thinking about using them under the wheels when I'm parking it in the yard.

My experience has shown that any plastic product becomes brittle with age. I just expect it to happen with any such product. With exposed sunlight the breakdown process accelerates, in my opinion.

That's why we use 2x10's cut 10" long with 45 degree beveled ends -- when they break, they become kindling, and new ones are free at the nearest construction site .....

I haven't checked lately, but Lynx used to guaranty them for life. The problem is they want you to pay the shipping & handling costs. My old checking showed it was cheaper to just buy another set of ten at WalMart

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

Plactic will age and become brittle over time. The more heat, the faster the decay. If stored those years in heat, that could explain it. Also, how many high were you stacking. I believe the instructions say a maximum of 5 high. Don't know if that matters, but I recall there is a recommended height limit.
