I have seen those couponing shows. Those people could also be on the hoarding show! How many thousand tubes of toothpaste do you really need?

On a serious note, unless you are using a coupon for something you already need and would buy whether you had a coupon or not, you are not saving money- YOU ARE WASTING MONEY!

Yes, I use coupons all the time! Mainly on things for the kids, snacks, drinks, I go through the local paper and cut out what I need each week.

The Extreme Couponing show must be staged, cause thats not the way it is in the "real world". One show was suppose to have been taped at a Kroger and they have a strict policy of two like coupons, and a daily limit,no way would they normally have allowed what they had on the show. I have used coupons for years, the show has brought out more people though and its harder to get to the store early enough to get what you want before the shelves are cleared. The shelf clearing happens every time our Harris Teeter doubles coupons up to $1.99 or triples coupons with a value up to .99,they double coupons with a face value of up to .99 each day and I average saving 30 to 50% on my grocery bill, even more when they have super doubles or triples. I'm on two coupon forums and they are helpful in learning all the tricks of the trade. You need to know the stores coupon policy where you shop, then have fun with it. At some stores when an item is buy one get one free you can buy just one and it rings up half price if you only need one. You can also still use a coupon on the half price item, bringing the price way down. Check in your stores, especially in the wine and beer department for tear pads of coupons,I have found them for $1 off of meat, produce, cheese, produce, etc.

We make just about everything from scratch, and many, not all, coupons are for boxed, canned, and processed things, so they don't help us much. We still find though it's way more economical to make everything, and much healthier too. Less sodium, fat, and sugar. Plus we know "where it's been", so to speak.

Ditto that! I don't use as many coupons as I used to for the very same reason. My daughter just got into couponing and was trying to talk me into doing it this past weekend. I may look at it again, but I'm not too hopeful. Plus, it seems very time consuming and I don't really have time for all that.

Not so much, but we have learned to join the local supermarket loyalty card when we're in an area for a while, to get reduced prices on things. Also recently learned to go to that loyalty clubs website and they often have electronic coupons that you can "attach" to your card and they will be applied when you buy that item. Takes just a few minutes.....
