I happened to catch one of those Coupon Shows....where they buy about $8,000 worth of groceries, and pay about $8.54 with about a million coupons.
I'm lucky if I can save $15 with some coupons....but even that is something to shoot for, and every penny saved, is a penny we can use for camping..

Never have used very many, would cut out and forget to carry them with me. I just use the ones for items on my grocery list, that I would normally purchase. For 3 months last fall one of our grocery stores would double a $1.00 for $2.00. Got free items or almost free. Shared with our 2 D-N-Laws. I got spoiled with that program. Enjoyed it while it lasted.

My daughter and I were just talking about this. I used to really pay attention and shop with coupons. I routinely bought about $400 worth of groceries for less than $100. That was back when the stores doubled the coupons and the coupons were a better deal. Now it seems like you have to buy 2 of the item to use a $.25 coupon.

We make just about everything from scratch, and many, not all, coupons are for boxed, canned, and processed things, so they don't help us much. We still find though it's way more economical to make everything, and much healthier too. Less sodium, fat, and sugar. Plus we know "where it's been", so to speak.

I go thru the ads & when I find an item, I write the item & page # on front of ad. If I plan to use any coupons, I stample them to the ad. The ad's in my hand when I go in the store because I can remember to use the coupon and I have the ad to show a clerk when I've walked the store 6 times & can't find what I'm looking for. I also staple the numerous pages of an ad together so I don't have ads falling all apart. I find it helps.

The problem with coupons is, You buy junk you don't need.

How much is your time worth? Who wants anyone hating you as much as the people behind you in line do? I can see it in the 2 to 3 coupons per checkout but the folks that spend a half hour going through their stack like a deck of cards really piss me off!

We use them. We save about an average of $30 each trip to the Commissary on the Army post.

I use a few coupons but I buy a lot of fresh vegetables and chicken. Don't find coupons for those. I've heard about groups that shop with coupons to buy items to donate to a soup kitchen or a church pantry.
