And the rates have just gone up again! I'm guessing that since Canada Post takes so long to deliver a parcel that the higher rates are to cover long-term storage costs.
Yes, I have a friend who lives in Canada. I have heard how high shipping charges are. Way worse than the US.

Several years ago Camping World charged us 59.00b shipping on 18.00 worth of goods from Roadmaster to their store. reakaway cable and something else was all there was. The parts themselves would reasonably be expected to cost a dollar or less each.
I hope Camping World Mgt is taking a few clues along the way and stopping such things.

Hi All.
Thats one of the resons we quit buying anything from Camping World, a lopng time ago. I also do a lot of shipping of items, by US Mail, UPS & FedX. Camping World is making money on their shippings charges. That and almost everything Camping World sells, we can usually find it cheaper on line, some where and a lot of the times, No Sales Tax, and No Shipping Charges, which makes it an even better buy. Even with your so called "Camping World Membership" at 10% off, you can still find most items cheaper on line. Sure, I would like to see more Companies and Manufactors with things Made in the USA, and to support this country. But at times, these Companies and Manufactors are making it pretty tough on us all, with their much Higher Costs and Highest Shipping Charges. Everyone wants to save when ever they can now a days. Even the so called Camping World "Internet Specials" or just the Camping World site "On-Sale Prices" are no real saving on thier already high prices. As big as Camping World is, why can't they give a real "On-Sale Prices" or "Internet Special Prices" at a real discount, and fair Shipping Charges. If places like Sams Club, Costco, Wal-Mart and K-Mart can do it, why can't Camping World do it. I do believe that if Camping World got real, they would in fact sell a lot more than what they do now. Sure, they have all sorts or RV stuff in one location, but so does other places. Places like "Ace Hardware", "Wal-Marts" & K-Marts" all have increased the amount of RV items that they now carry. Kind of seems like the so-called peice of Pie is getting smaller and smaller. Think its time for Camping World to get more competive. Just our 2 cents worth. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

It's not so much the shipping costs that are aggravating, it's the extra charges that get attached. Last spring I shipped a package from Columbia, MO to Ft Collins, CO. It was less than five pounds, approx 2.5" x 10" x 8". It was an electronic item in its original shipping packaging, which was as new (not previously shipped). It absolutely, positively, etc. The local FedEx store was open, but the computer system was down. They couldn't weigh it, they couldn't tell me a price, nada. Didn't matter; it had to go. I left them my card number and went on my merry way. Several weeks later I noticed that there had been no charge to my card. Another week, a bill caught up with me - for $87.00! Included was a charge because the packaging wasn't up FedEx standards (no, when it arrived it had NOT been repacked). There was an $11.20 fuel surcharge. There was an $11.00 charge for billing me because I did not have an account w/FedEx. Grudgingly, I paid the bill - except the no account surcharge. Wasn't my fault their system was down, nor my fault the staff didn't charge the card number left with them, at their suggestion.

I have never in my life heard of Fed Ex shipping on a five pound item being $87.00. There was obviously some error becuase this is not their standard shipping rates. I would not have paid it without escalating that one up the chain. You mentioned $11 charge for no account and an $11 fuel surcharge. Something doesn't add up, what was the other $65 charge for? Five pound packages do not ship for $65. I also don't understand "packaging not up to fed ex standards". You put items in one of their bags or boxes. Why didn't you just put your item in the mailer when you left it with them?
But I never would have left my package with them either, not until they gave me a receipt. I just do not trust Fed Ex much more than I do the PO. Once I have a tracking number I WOULD trust them much more than the PO, but not until then.
Sounds like it went next day AM delivery, that could generate that kind of charge.
Yes, it was next day (Saturday) am delivery, as implied. I did have a handwritten receipt before leaving the store. I did NOT put items in one of their boxes, as stated it was in its original, unused, shipping container. I think it was the $11.20 fuel surcharge on a 4+ pound item that got my attention. Apparently, FedEx has gold-burning aircraft.

I see no issue with it. Have you not ordered anything from anywhere else?
You have the right to shop elsewhere! Find a different place with vacuum bags that ship cheaper. I don't see that publicly attacking a company because you don't like their price of shipping or the response you get from customer service on this issue is beneficial. Why in the world would you email their customer service and complain about a posted shipping price? You saw it, you didn't have to pay it. Move on to another supplier.

Sluggo, Next day Saturday AM delivery is the highest delivery charge of all!!!!!!! They figure anyone who wants something that bad will pay whatever it takes.
FedEx actually runs three types of delivery trucks for residential deliveries. Express, which is what you got is the fastest and most expensive, Ground and then Home. FedEx Home Delivery which is the slowest delivery FedEx has makes normal ground deliveries in the evenings and Saturday.

Why in the world?
Probably the same reason you felt the need to post your opinion.....(see also, irony)
And no, the shipping cost isn't posted until you put it in your basket and go to checkout.

Shipping and handling fee and yes shipping has gone thru the roof but so has fuel and that's what gets the package to you. Also, that's the internet.... Appear to have the best price and the. Try and make it up somewhere else like in the shipping. Try to find it local, I know it can be difficult sometimes to get what cw sells at a local store but if possible keep your money local.

Another question would be is if you were shipping to Fort Collins or to Livermore. I can certainly understand extra costs for shipping to Livermore. I work in the Fort Collins area, and we do charge extra to go to Livermore/Red Feather and anything else further north or west. I actually don't know if FedEx has a facility in this area, or if it all comes out of Henderson (near Denver). I know that UPS has a facility in Loveland for this area, but don't think FedEx does.
